Yes that would be the joke.
How many more times is Lemmy going to recycle this shitty Futurism ragebait article about a stupid marketing gimmick?
Vote now on your phones/pervert glasses.
Because it's funny
My car has driving assistance (my girlfriend)
Already sold out! https://knockaround.com/products/duckduckgo-paso-robles
Why?
They're not good looking and they're quite expensive for cheap sunglasses.
I could buy 5 pairs of better sunglasses at kmart for the price of these...
Maybe because of what it represents
Capitalism? The culture war?
They are capitalizing the hate towards the real pervert glasses
Probably because they didn't stock very many because it's mostly a joke
I like this idea, but they are announcing cheapish sunglasses for sale during the height of sunny summer with an estimated ship date of late November. That seems like a slight miscalculation.
EDIT: I'm an idiot, and other places exist. Thank you multiple commenters for pointing out the flaw in my thought here!
The entire Southern Hemisphere has gone missing and nobody told me?!
We already have better sunglasses, we don't need meme glasses.
It's good for awareness, that's the point. Not to actually make a rival pair of glasses. It advertises DuckDuckGo, privacy in general and brings attention to the problems of glasses with cameras in.
We don't need "smart"-glasses.
Look, as a southern hemispherian, given everything that's going on right now in the northern hemisphere, I'd be pretty fine with going missing TBH.
Hopefully they're designed to last more than one season
florida exists
Unfortunately
give it a century and there will be less of it

Actually the 'smart glasses' are illegal to use in Europe, as you cannot film people in the street without their consent. It's called privacy and reserve of image.
Europe is not a country and you can absolutely film in public in most countries that are part of Europe.
You can film in public but if anyone doesn't want to appear in the recording they can ask to be removed or even go to the authorities. And even if they do not request it and show up in a public display, they can open a case with the authorities.
You can always ask but you can't demand it. Taking photos of even a single individual without their consent in a public place is perfectly legal in most of Europe. What is not okay is publishing that image though even that isn't automatically illegal. If you're not the focus of the shot but you appear in the background in the crowd then that is okay to publish even if you say no.
Not quite correct. You are not allowed to specifically film people. You are allowed to film in public spaces when the people are just a "background" crowd.
Different countries have different rules. If you film in Germany then you need to blur the faces of people in the background if you want to show that video anywhere.
problem is US congress rats do absolutely nothing for us. vote those bums out
