May the sex industry workers stay safe and their finances grow fat.

"women on base, you better watch out"

Straight men are getting more unfuckable every single day, holy shit

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 37 points 1 month ago

As a straight guy, I can’t disagree.

[–] Aneb@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When I came out as gay 8 years ago to my mom she promised me I would never have happy and fulfilling marriage. Knowing my mom mostly knows only straight men, I can 100% confirm she is right if I was picking from her pool.

While I am not going to disagree about your conclusion, I am going to say that lumping this psychopathic rapist in with the average straight man is just about as inaccurate as claiming that he is an average American, or average human.

[–] Lyrl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago (7 children)

It takes only a small amount of risk to make an activity a bad choice. If 5% of people who walk through a neighborhood are mugged, anyone with a choice will avoid walking in that neighborhood, even though an overwhelming majority of 95% would be fine.

The calculation around dating is similar. If there is a 3% chance going somewhere private with a guy would result in nonconsensual sexual activity, it's not worth doing. Not fair for the 97% or whatever of guys who have normal behavior boundaries, but life isn't fair.

It's not doing us any favors when they're creating government policies specifically to push the boulder downhill even faster.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My girlfriend is 39 years old, she keeps telling me that she never felt so good around a men he whole life when she's with me. I keep thinking how sad that is, but at the same time, i don't like being around men either. I like my friends, but at work, as soon as some guy i don't know talks a bunch, i keep wondering at what point is he gonna say something disgusti... Ah there it is. I'm not perfect by any means, but even when i was around 16 and started working, and geard these gross comments from my co workers, i kept thinking: i can't wait unti i'm an adult and don't find these comments gross as fuck. Apparently i never became a real man.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

Yeah my sister is engaged to a guy who treats her very well and they're both wildly in love with one another, his family has totally taken her in. It can happen.

I just think most women are doing the math and realizing there aren't enough guys out there who are worth being married to to go around, and don't think the gamble is worth it.

The tide is going the wrong direction but there are people out there not getting swept away.

[–] Beth@piefed.social 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I don’t even bother dating.

This shook out so many "not all men" comments lol

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (27 children)

Trying to blame this on all men (not sure why gay men are exempted?) instead of on Republicans is a great way to alienate a large portion of potential allies.

Next time a woman says something stupid on Fox News it is time to blame all women?

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Many women (mothers, girlfriends, sisters, classmates) also play a major role in creating the warped masculinity that Watters is fantasizing about.

So if you're looking for blame, it goes all over the place, including on closeted queer men like Lindsay Graham and Pete Hegseth and Jesse Waters and Andrew Tate and Ben Shapiro.

If you've heard someone taking about Rape Culture and thought to yourself "I don't even know what that is", you can always watch that video again and notice how all three other people on set calmly wait for him to finish, including the woman seated directly to his right.

I would argue that I don't agree with Jesse Waters or Pete Hegseth and am still somewhat fuckable, although I understand why you feel that way.

High testosterone levels (I can only assume they’re not considering anything less than the maximum end of normal to be “healthy”) converts to estrogen because it’s more chemically stable. What is a normal level of testosterone varies from person to person; someone may feel fine at 400 ng/dL and someone else may feel like death at that level. And the person that feels fine at 400 may feel like shit at 1000, especially with the potential of added estrogen from high T. Hormones are complicated and have all kinds of weird downstream effects! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 40 points 1 month ago

Which is why doctors don't just randomly do testosterone tests on men who don't report any problems. If your behavior and health is normal, your T is fine. That is the baseline for any individual human.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I had breasts pre-transition because my body naturally produces very high levels of T. Excessive T is also converted into DHT, unfortunately, which made me stop growing at a younger age and gave me really bad acne. At least my hair never fell out.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Truth. And it's worse for young guys who do it, because if they end up getting unnecessary exogenous testosterone, it can and often does have a negative effect on libido, performance, and fertility long before age or other conditions manage those downward for them.

Testes that are making enough testosterone for that person to live comfortably should be left alone to do so, because like the adrenals when you fuck with steroids, if testes get testosterone in excess they lay back and think, "Job done," and then that's the last you hear from them.

I'm not even joking. That looksmaxxer fool is a poster boy for what can happen when you take testosterone and don't need it: he's barely out of his teens and apparently infertile. He may well be impotent too, though I doubt he's bragging about that part of it.

EDITED TO ADD that it took them a day but now the doctors themselves are coming out of the woodwork to call bullshit (emphasis mine):

Five of six men’s health experts contacted by Reuters for this story said they were puzzled by the announcement on testosterone testing and concerned it may lead to unnecessary – or even harmful – treatment.

“We hear from patients that when you treat low T, things like cognitive alertness and stamina improve. But the evidence is not concrete, and it ‌comes from patients who were treated because they were symptomatic,” said ‌Dr Kevin McVary, a urologist on the medical advisory board of Rugiet, a telehealth platform that provides testosterone supplements.

“Many in our armed forces are young men who are not done having their families,” McVary said. “If you just dole out the testosterone, the testes will shrink. And you can’t reliably count on them coming back.” Other risks include blood thickening, prostate issues, acne, hair loss, breast tissue growth and mood volatility.

[–] 42firehawk@fedinsfw.app 8 points 1 month ago

I naturally sat at around 1000 ng/dL before transitioning and felt fine. Then was the fun game of trying to suppress that level since my body apparently runs on high t levels. A few years later and the solution was surgically removing everything that can produce testosterone.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 58 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just further cementing that rape is a core Republican Christian value.

isn't he a predator himself? didn't he sabotage a woman's car to make sure she got into his?

I mean, what else could you expect from scum like these people?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I mean, what else could you expect from scum like these people?

Yeah, he let the air out of his current wife's tires in order to "rescue" her.

I call out these people because beliefs like this should be publicly shamed.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is that like a story he told people or his wife told people? Was he dumb enough to say that on air thinking it was a clever thing to do?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

He says rapist shit like that all the time on air unfortunately.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

10000%

These are the pics and examples I show my daughter to teach her what rapists actually look like

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago (5 children)

... People actually do that shit?

I feel like I'm a boyscout or something, I never have any sick fuck urges like that

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah that's literally how he met his wife, they worked together and he sabotaged her car so she would need help and he was right there to "save" her.

The Pedo Party is currently scheming to get women out of sports so getting women out of the military is probably also on the list.

Just fuck off already. We are so tired of this bullshit...

And then they get blindsided with SA allegations and cry the world isn't fair

[–] yucandu@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (5 children)

When I was on methadone, it made my testosterone levels plummet - my already low sex drive (I feel like masturbating sometimes) went to 0 (I no longer feel like masturbating ever), and i got Bob's bitch tits.

They gave me delatestryl injections. Testosterone, steroids. My arm muscles got really big, I could suddenly do 20 pullups without even feeling winded after, and Fuzzy Bunny noticed strange black hairs growing where there were no hairs before. And I felt like masturbating again.

That's it. I didn't become this rabid horn dog willing to go up to women and ask them out. I didn't really get any extra confidence at all, just physical stamina. There was no change in my perceived "manliness", and most of these types would have probably still called me a wuss while I was on the steroids.

That's because you were clearly not making enough of these hormones on your own, so much so that you were already symptomatic. The testosterone (and presumably the steroids as well) you were given just raised you back up to normal levels.

Kegsbreath's talking about offering it based on numbers alone, and it just doesn't work like that. Numbers are only one part of the diagnostic considerations. If you take extra testosterone regardless of what the numbers say and you don't actually need it to bring you to a place of normal functioning, you can damage your hormonal production permanently.

I have known non-steroid using body builders who take testosterone uptake blockers. It basically forces it to remain in your blood longer than it should so that the level builds up. Some of them had some real anger issues while on it.

Need to dig through my lemmy comments to find the guy I argued with a billion years ago who claimed providing HRT to trans soldiers was too expensive/complicated.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This was already a huge source of conflict with letting the US house bases…

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Yep. Its why the MPs around some bases will basically beat you and drag your ass back on base if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, because they have so many problems with service members committing crimes off base that its jeopardizing their authorization.

Have you heard the story about how Jesse Waters pursued his future wife (14 years younger than him)?

https://www.thelist.com/1724042/fox-news-jesse-watters-wife-emma-messy-relationship-timeline/

By Jesse's admission, their love story dates back to when she worked with him as his associate producer. "When I was trying to get Emma to date me, the first thing I did was let the air out of her tires. She couldn't go anywhere; she needed a lift. I said, 'Hey, you need a lift?' She hopped right in," he shared with his co-hosts on "The Five" while grinning. If the commentator's story about how he "met" his wife has you creeped out, you'd be shocked to realize the actual story is much worse. Jesse Watters conveniently omitted the fact that he was married at the time he began pursuing Emma, who was 14 years younger
