Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

I love that thay added the face to the ad. These techbro coomers are frothing at the mouth at the idea of an "AI" woman, because the ones with natural intelligence avoid them like the plague.

Fucking weirdos.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

I read that title a few days ago and I thought "hehe, nice one" but this is real ?? I thought it was satire 😭

I was told that when we got to the cyberpunk dystopia, we will have flying cars!?!

Where's my goddamn flying car!?!

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 35 points 1 year ago (1 children)

NOTE: The only "flying cars" in the Bladerunner movies are either police vehicles or belonging to a megacorporation. Rarely, if ever, do you see a commoner with a "flying car" in most pieces of Cyberpunk.

No love for the 5th Element?

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That wasn't cyberpunk. Even though it did have an evil megacorporation, it lands primarily in the Sci-Fi fantasy category.

PS: Love The 5th Element.

“Where’s my goddamn ~~electric~~ flying car Bruce??”

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

Every time I hear about flying cars I keep thinking back to this onion video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hGjl3zcJMk

You can order them here. That's the ones that are in production. A few more are underway.

https://www.pal-v.com/

https://jetson.com/

https://pivotal.aero/

They cost a few 100k. You need a piloting license. These either need a runway or have limited range. Nice expensive toys but not that practical.

[–] Whats_a_lemmy@ponder.cat 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They're more "planes that drive" than "cars that fly"

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 3 points 1 year ago

That's what you get when physics matters.

But the XPeng X3 might interest you. It's also a bit like as transformer. It's not for sale tho, but they have a remote controlled prototype.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

We have flying cars. They're call helicopters and are extremely difficult to pilot.

[–] hark@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

The former CEO of UnitedHealthcare isn't doing much complaining either.

[–] Cocopanda@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

this is disgusting. May these companies burn in hell.

[–] peregrin5@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

This was an advertising stunt and it worked because everyone is talking about it. It's the same principle of pushing rage-bait to get clicks.

Luigi had never seen such Black Mirror bullshit ever before.

Master troll plan:

> get employed at one of the companies that use this artisan tech
> jailbreak them into complaining
> see the bosses' head explode in fury once the AI won't bring them infinite money printing machines
[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

The only thing I use AI for is furry porn. Even then it wouldn't be as good as if I had tons of money to commission. Which I don't.

I find AI useless for most other things.

The Great Replacement Theory is here. It has nothing to do with race and it's been flaunted in our face all along. Universal Income is a hoax and if you think otherwise you're a chump
