Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

"It's impact on society will be on the same level as the invention of the atomic bomb!" (actual comparison made by some big tech CEO)

"Oh my god, so it will be very well regulated and operated with the utmost care?"

"Actually no, not at all."

The amount of missing nuclear bombs is relevant here i think lol

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 3 weeks ago

Relevant because they exist in spite of strict regulation. More reason AI should be regulated.

Bombs go missing from time to time

Well that's terrifying.

WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO RUN THE TRAINING MISSIONS WITH REAL BOMBS?

The other funny one is the one that was described as "rolling off" the deck of a boat... how does that even happen? Did they just have it lying around on deck? Is that not the kind of thing you store in an extra safe, closed off location?

When the robot does it, it's not illegal

[–] GhostFace@lemmy.today 4 points 2 weeks ago

The robot is just an extension of the ultra wealthy so of course it's not illegal

It shows up fine for me, but the op linked the source directly. Adding it again here because some apps get weird with links in picture posts.

You people are going to stop the Plagarized Information Stochastic Stupidity based operation paperclip machine just because it also makes kiddie porn on demand sometimes and starts cults and basically ruined public education and search and the concept of truth like you're not even grateful for how they make all those mentally ill and old useless eaters kill themselves you irrational Luddite fanatics disgust me I bet you prefer kiddie porn made with individual live children rather than aggregate samples of millions of exploited children so its like you're masturbating to all the abused kids at once you simple regressive fucks make me sick
