Going purely off the Xbox to Xbox elite of $50-110 – this is what I’m hoping for, but am also prepared for a $110 price. (Even though I know the elite price is more about name then function.)
$75-80 is what I am expecting but I wouldn't be surprised to see $100
Probably the same as a DualSense/Regular Xbox controller; around $70-80. The OG was $50, which was the same for Xbox and PS4 at the time.
Wouldn't they cost more? I mean, they have hall effect sticks and 2 touchpads.
The previous one also had two touch pads and even better stick hardware than hall effect sticks (TMR); still cost no more than its contemporaries.
Is Hall effect the good one or like the Nintendo Switch and PS5 that wear out and require replacement?
Hall effect sticks are better than the potentiometer type sticks used in the Joycons and DualSense. They don't make contact with anything so they don't shed material and wear out as easily. The reason the other controllers get drift is from shavings from the contact pads messing with the signal. You can clean it for a temporary fix, but eventually there won't even be a contact pad to provide a signal at all.

When I was a kid we had an N64 game called Ready to Rumble Boxing, and when you got knocked down you could only get up by moving the joystick form left to right really fast. We developed a technique to put our palms on it and smash the thing back and forth which resulted in a lot of dead N64 controllers.
Hopefully future children are saved from characters that only move at half speed and drive in random directions.

70 Dollars / Euros, if we are lucky 60 Dollars. 80 is possible, due to current market situation, but I doubt Valve would go so far. Anything higher than that is highly unlikely in my opinion. Maybe there will be refurbished ones in the future, for cheaper price.
I would even buy one if it costs 90, but not more. I buy two right away if they cost 60 at launch.

$100 based on Joy-Con 2 price since I guess Nintendo has a good margin on those. Should be more than basic Xbox controller. Also more than a PS5 controller because Valve does not have the component buying power of Playstation.

I don't know how much the msrp would be but the price I bet I'd need to pay is $250

Why couldn't they make it affordable at around 50 bucks?
We know it is wireless, has a gyro, and on top of all basic controller functions has two trackpads with extra haptics, so it's unlikely that it will be cheap.
Essentially the same as the original controller with just an extra joystick.
The Deck has all that + screen+computer+speakers for as low as 400. The controller part is not 1/4 of the cost there.
Plus the components are essentially the same as for the deck, so less cost for the RnD and the manufacturing.
If it's priced higher than ~60 it better work perfectly with the system/games, unlike the Deck which has many issues with multiple controllers.
I'll gladly spend around200 buck for a 4 pack if that means I can reliably play couch games with my friends, but imagine having to spend more than what a used Deck costs for 4 controllers 💀

Because it makes economic sense to get higher profit margins for peripherals to offset the memory costs for Deck, Frame, and Machine. Gabe's comment regarding 64GB Deck's price gave me the impression they rather go that route.
There are good and affordable 8bitdo controllers available anyway, so there are alternatives.
Except I saw predictions of 80+ already before the ram crisis.
They sold the original controller at an affordable price, why not do the same now? They make hella margin on the steam store so no need to fleece customers for the peripherals
