Trump has never pumped his own gas, he has never bought groceries, or had to make a doctors appointment for his sick child, he’s never had to make a budget, or get a 2nd job, he’s does not give a fuck if everyday items cost 10x more than they did before.

14 months ago the guy across the road bought a car with a V8, at about the same time I got an EV. He smirked at me for buying an EV as a "pussy" car and I smile every time i hear it start :)

I'll spot you that - for daily commuting - gas costs probably aren't a big part of the household budget. But it's a highly visible price, thanks to stations hosting the number in big bold digits updated daily.
The real cost of this war-induced supply chain disruption is going to be downstream of commuting, though. Agriculture, shipping, and high energy cost manufacturing (steel and aluminium manufacturing, for instance) consume enormous amounts of fossil fuels. Also, increasingly now, Cloud Compute costs, which will impact a bunch of downstream IT businesses.
We'll see the number go up at the pump and then we'll see it go up everywhere else.
Not many people realize that the cost per barrel isn't instantly related to the cost of gasoline.

Man oh man I think I really lucked out trading in the ol' gas car for an EV this week.
My wife's car started doing this thing where it was like the peddle was not attached to the accelerator. Towed it to the dealer. $9k+ to repair. Yeah, fuck that shit. Time for a new car. What EV did you get?
Found a really nicely priced '22 Bolt EUV in great condition with only 28k miles.
I really like it. It's well equipped in features, zippy, has over 200mi of range. It also doesn't "look" like an EV (IMO some manufacturers seem to think EVs have to look quirky or futuristic). In that same vein it also doesn't fall into the other EV trap where everything is touchscreen and electronic. Traditional door handles, physical buttons for climate/volume/features.
The only drawback to a Bolt is that it doesn't have stupid-fast DC fast charging. For most people they'll charge at home and it won't matter. (Actually, Bolts '22 and newer can home charge quicker than many cars if you've got the setup) But if you're going on a road trip it could mean getting there slower. Takes about 45-50 minutes to charge. If you're going 500 miles that's not too bad, one stop for lunch and you're set. If you're going 5000 miles with any regularity, well it could be a deal breaker. If you need that look at some models like the Ioniq 5 which can charge in under 20min.

US$6.05 per USGal this morning at the station 3 blocks away. I WISH for $4/gal.

Bill Gates was never in charge of a country and could be wrong, he was just a lucky CEO. Mean I'm sure he did a lot of work to buy DOS to repackage. Though they did take over development to our current day, for better or worse.
I'd hope whoever is in charge of a country understands the hardship increased prices cause the citizens of that country. It's not new but it's noteworthy when a leader is so out of touch with what 99% of people he's supposed to lead deal with.
Yeah, I wasn't trying to compare Trump to Gates in terms of what they ran, but how much having that money disconnects one from the working class. They don't know shit about shit not because of why they have money/power, but because they have money/power. (They also likely have people who shop for them. I mean, I know Trump does, I just assume Gates still does, too.)
Ah I get it no worries. It'd be nice if people that had money and power and also understood what the rest of people needed. However I think wishing for a unicorn would yield similar results. Man I can only imagine that life though, not having to deal with the check out lines (yes rich people this is my hope rather than wishing everyone stays poor to fund me, even if I did have to stand in lines, they suck but we all get our turn)
He's right. Even after all those price increases, gasoline is currently cheaper in the US than it was almost all over the world before the war.
For example it would have to reach $16/gallon to reach the same level of affordability as in India before the war.
