a clumsy attempt to foment nationalism that isn't going to be as effective as its architects were hoping.

It could have been effective if the lead up to the NASA push had lent itself to any hope of cooperation within our govt. As it stands, it just feels like a way for the ultra-wealthy to advance their commercial space interests through taxpayer funding.

And as soon as it affects the wrong people, this slack-jawed yokel will be out. The rich don't like being inconvenienced. Just need to look back to the first govt. shutdown last year when the Democrats took an L to open up airports like the underdog fighter tapping out while standing over their unconscious opponent.

Boomers have some of the highest lead levels of any currently living generations. They are also, on average, very gullible. Them holding positions of power, during genAI startup, is why ICE was arresting citizens, with multiple forms of ID, because an app told them the person was someone else. They are told to believe the tech and they don't question it because they don't question anything someone with authority tells them.

Despite having a very scientific mindset to the paranormal, I considered myself to be a partial empath.

This is what scares me about trying to ghost hunt. I feel pretty deeply and can pick up on emotion pretty strongly. However, I'm also used to creaky old houses, animals and pet noises, etc. so I figure a lot of these sounds investigators hear and attribute to spirits would be passed off as just an old house or a hot water system expanding and contracting with temp changes.

I'd love to hear more about your experiences. You mention before or after this reply that you got some good EVP recordings. I get with how shitty people and the internet are, not wanting to share videos, but would you share the most intriguing EVPs?

I know you Didn't ask me, but I watch a couple YT channels that have decent content. Twin Paranormal is a fun one cause of how close-knit the three are. Midwest Ghost Hunter has some of the best EVP encounters I've heard. And there was another, I can't remember the name, that had Mind something in the name, who had some crazy shit go down in places. The last group I mentioned has like three big, tatted dudes who do like UFO videos too. Those don't interest me, though. One of the best videos from them involved a member of their group, Tanner, who was basically grabbed, tripped, and pulled like 3-6 ft on the ground, on camera, and was so shook up from it he had to go outside and didn't really want to go back inside.

I bought a bunch of ghost hunting equipment and then my sister backed out of going ghost hunting with me. I wanna do it so bad, but not alone. Did you stop because of an experience you had or other reasons?

Well, some have started succumbing to a form of psychosis, so probably not doing great!

I said that I can feel myself getting more and more stupid when using these tools, due to the mental offloading.

It takes a lot of self reflection to notice how well you understood a thing before genAI use, and how that understanding starts to disappear quickly after using genAI a lot more. I, too, noticed a similar reduction in ability and understanding of topics the more I used genAI. Now, I only use it as a last resort or when searching online will return too many unrelated results due to description of the problem being too generic.

A senior web dev is all about it at my work and I can't really stand him nor genAI so I'm glad I don't work directly with him or his team!

Saw a spooky video recently of a over-night janitor at an elementary school being pursued out of a class and down the hall by a party balloon, before eventually recording some black blur that bolted past a doorway and nope-ing the fuck out of there.

Saw another video where this creepy Elmo balloon kept chasing the family, specifically the son, around the house, even upstairs. It kept seeming to want to try to go to the basement with the boy. EVentually, some creepy figure was seen in the doorway to the basement.

So yeah, balloons sure can float!

Nothing of substance will change until the ultra wealthy fear the loss of their wealth and life. Those are the only two things they care about.

Republicans will lose so thoroughly in November that any attempt at casting doubt on the results of elections will be laughable, no matter the states propensity to vote Republican. We've already seen areas that went to tRump in 2024 by, like 23pts, go to Democrat candidates by a similar margin. That's a -40pt swing in some tRump country elections. That's not poling. Those are special election results.

I think the war he started is only going to intensify the swing by then. At least that's the hope-ium I'm snorting off the toilet seat of this current timeline. In actuality, November will be the last hope for this dying republic and how far gone 1/3 of the population appears to be.

All I know is every reporter that can put questions to tRump need to relentlessly call him out for his mail-in voting, his family's mail-in voting, and reduce any attempt by Faux 'News' to clip positive soundbites, impossible. Drive down into the states rights thought and hit back at Republican voters and candidates with their own arguments. Not to shame or berate them on their past voting choices, but to side with them against any Republican betraying the principles they claim to espouse.

If we successfully vote in a super majority, we must relentlessly canvass communities and hound our reps to demand a change to the whole first-past-the-post method of voting. A lot of our political frustrations can be abated locally, all the way up to national, with this change! If they refuse to support it in any capacity, run progressive candidates to challenge these measured-opposition Democrats and forcefully remove the do-nothing Schumer's of this rotted party/system. No more capitulation to a party. No more hemming and hawing after they're sworn in. Nothing else can be fixed until we replace the system that's used to pick our elected leaders and we have given them ample opportunities to save this country and the party.

I feel pretty good about this as I have only had Linux installed as my daily driver since late October 2025. This machine is the only exposure to Linux I get, as I work as a Windows sysadmin. I run openSUSE LEAP 16.0 with KDE and while I can't say I'm comfortable or even within spitting-distance of being comfortable with it, I feel like today moved the needle a bit more towards that.

This started a few days ago with my three displays. I run an LG 34" curved display as my main monitor and two 27" CRUA curved displays on the sides of it. Previously, I had experienced no issues with this setup when using Bricklink Studio 2.0 via wine. However, on Thursday night I quit Studio and boom, my side monitors wouldn't stay on or detect a signal, and my main display kept freaking out and blinking every 5-7 seconds. I could get one of the two side monitors to work, but not both with the main monitor.

Long story short (DP->HDMI adapter swaps, cable changes, port arrangements with the graphics card, etc.), I used DuckDuckGo searches (lots of the results came from the Arc forums, my consolences) and was pointed toward log files for kwin. I used the Logs app on my machine to check the important logs that would appear when I tried to have both monitors plugged in. That showed me that it was having trouble finding or removing some reference object. I looked in the Display Configuration settings and noticed the monitors would pop up, last for about 5-7 seconds, then get disconnected within the same time frame as the logs. I also noticed that when they would be visible, the 'Enable' checkbox would be unchecked.

So with my trusty vertical mouse in hand, I studied the placement of the buttons and checkbox and after a few fails, successfully selected the checkbox to enable one of the displays, apply the change, and select keep before it could fully disconnect the monitor. Boom! The monitor turned back on and stayed on. I had to adjust it's position in the layout, but after that, it had no issue being on! I repeated this for the other monitor and now, I am happy to say, all three of my monitors are on and my system is running exactly as before!

I really appreciate the openness to information that I see in many of the Linux communities, and thank you to those of you who have contributed, or will contribute to that knowledge. Because of people keeping that information open and available, a complete and utter Linux-n00b like myself can take a shot at investigating and fixing my own system woes.

Best regards!

P.S. I have a theory about what happened with wine and why the issue wouldn't happen with one of the side monitors plugged in, and only happen when both were. But I'll save that for a comment if someone asks.

I am convinced we're already seeing generative AI used to "verify" military targets for Israel (including now and during their genocide in Palestine) and the US, as well as in ICE with facial recognition for US detainment and target confirmation. If we survive this period in time, any attempt to hold these people accountable for their actions will be met with the excuse they were using generative AI to pick targets and cannot be blamed when the AI makes a mistake. We must not let them use that as an excuse to skirt accountability for the indiscriminate bombings and assaults on civilian targets across the world.

Unfortunately, I cannot see any way out of this so long as we have no government capable, or willing, to reign in the power of these large-data corporations and tech bros. All of this is orchestrated by a group of ultra-wealthy pedophiles pushing technologically-clueless dotards in governments to spearhead the use of generative AI for military and surveillance applications when the technology is misunderstood at best, and ostensibly dangerous at worst. I believe this will only get worse before it gets better if we do not do anything to stop this, and I don't know what we can do to stop any of this at this point.

Diabetes runs in my family. Almost everyone on my dad's side of the family has/had it and many of them suffered quite a lot under it. My dad was diagnosed when he was 44 (he's 75-now and needs insulin shots multiple times a day) and my brother, who is gonna be 40 next year, was diagnosed earlier this year or last year (not sure if he's insulin dependent or not). I just turned 41 this September and have been riding the "high glucose/pre-diabetic" test results high-wire for the last decade or so. I used to be much more active (pre-COVID) and ate better in the past, but as I get on in my years, I am worried that this is going to become an inevitability even if I were to resume my previous exercise and nutrition regiments.

I think a lot of us can benefit greatly from hindsight and, even if it can't help you now, what were some warnings/indications you were diabetic before you actually confirmed it? If you're up for sharing, what was the final event that forced you to seek help and eventually get diagnosed?

Thank you, in advance, for any information you are willing to share!

Edit: Updated the title to specify Type-2 diabetics. Still, T1 that know how they were feeling prior to are more than welcome to comment, as well!
