Post TextRemember when Trump threatened to wipe out a whole civilization? And then backed out of that and talked about forming a deal with Iran? And then dropped that and went to a UFC fight as negotiations fell apart? And then unveiled a triumphal arch and a photo of himself as Jesus?

That was this week.

Bluesky.

Florida man strikes again

[–] Jaimesmith@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

At this point it reads less like news and more like a chaotic recap montage πŸ˜…

[–] JuliaSuraez@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Feels like a whole season of a show got crammed into one week πŸ˜…

[–] bluegreenpurplepink@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Did you see the video of Trump talking to the UFC guy? Trump shook his hand and then wouldn't let go. And then Trump touched the guy's bare leg. It was crazy.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 6 hours ago

I guess the dementia is weakening his control over his gay thoughts.

I'm getting the feeling they just put a dancing clown in front of us so we don't start talking about real problems and demanding solutions for them. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but the entire Trump presidency is one big distraction. We could be talking about and working towards solutions to societies problems, but now the news cycle is a 24/7 clown show.

He's not the first one.

Reagan was certainly far more qualified and intelligent than trump, but he was the same thing.

An old, white, face-guy who everyone could focus their attention on while the Heritage Foundation did its dirty work in the shadows.

There's a reason everything seems to have started stagnating in the 80's, because it did.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 6 hours ago

He's always been a puppet. He wouldn't be where he is if powerful people didn't find him useful.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

That is precisely why my cousin Zaphod was allowed to become president, to draw attention.

I’m getting the feeling they just put a dancing clown in front of us so we don’t start talking about real problems and demanding solutions for them.

That's kinda why the rich let us have elections in the first place.

So i have adhd and its goven me some insight:

If you have enough real problems, theyre all distractions from each other! Its great!

[–] MousePotatoDoesStuff@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

It's probably a mix of distraction and real problem.

Or they just throw everything at the wall and hope enough of it sticks.

And the opposition should do the same (but in the opposite direction, of course).

[–] fisch@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

If you talk about the problems people actually have, and you suggest solutions without getting distracted by dancing clowns, you win elections. In the US, Zohran Mamdani demonstrated it, and in Hungary, Peter Magyar. The problem is, many politicians are easily distracted. They think they could score points by pointing out problems in the clowns choreography, when they should be talking about their agenda instead.

2025 was an exhausting decade

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Lol remember when everyone thought they had it tough living through history when "history" just meant "a pandemic"?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What a week huh? US, it's tuesday.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

The US and the rest of the world has the same week. For the same reason.

and just like that.... people aren't talking about the epstein files anymore

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 15 points 1 day ago

"quick, while no ones talking about; talk about it!"

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah I mean sure the files and all but nuclear armageddon does, indeed, kind of take precedence of mind

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Nuclear Armageddon isn't happening. Of all the things that can collapse everything, that's pretty close to the bottom.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 22 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mention the Epstein class all the time, and I straight up said I would kill Trump on the spot if I spotted him, to my co-workers. I do NOT hide it at all.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 1 day ago

Username definitely check out.

How is this normal? How is ANY OF THIS NORMAL?

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s not, we’ve just had that many β€œonce in a lifetime” crises and are that broken.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'M NOT BROKEN I WANT TO KILL SOMETHING! I'LL KILL SOMETHING SWEET AND CUDDLY I SWEAR!

I'm fine.

I'm fine.

I mean, when you put it that way, anything can sound bad.

I hope I don't need the /s tag...

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Remember when Randy Marsh took that giant shit? That's how I imagine America is going to feel after the big flush.

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago (6 children)

My partner and I can’t even remember why he bombed Iran. Anyone able to remind us?

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

He said it's because they have nukes, then said jt was a pre-emptive strike because he felt they would attack soon, then said it was to bring armageddon as God's will? There was also a point republicans were saying Israel forced our hand into it. I remember there being 1 more reason but forgor.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't think he ever gave a solid reason for it. At first it was something about them refining radioactive material, then it was about the apocalypse, then I stopped paying attention to the flimsy excuses.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

it was mostly because Netanyahu talked him into it, and also because it makes a great distraction from domestic problems at home, and also because it makes the stock market go up and down and trump's family can make lots of money through insider trading that way ...

[–] tomkatt@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Supposedly he thought it would increase his dismal polling numbers, as military action tended to do so for previous presidents.

Also, to distract from the Epstein files and several other things people are actively upset about.

And to set up the terrorist false flag needed to cancel the midterms.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

It has been an "imminent threat" for the past 40 years. Not sure they understand the meaning of the word "imminent."
