Also, there's nowhere close to a guarantee he won't do it anyway even after you capitulate. Just look at, oh I don't know, every party that has ever capitulated to Trump. He'll either find something else to threaten you over or he'll do it for no reason other than his own amusement.

Exactly, we can see how Europeans continue to bend over for him which only invites more punishment. The only approach that works is to stand up for yourself.
