Railway and light rail infrastructure gets blocked by NIMBYs.

Bike and Pedestrian infrastructure gets blocked by Automotive industry groups.

Bus routes suffer from the same issues as automotive congestion.

The current State Government is being crucified by the expenses on Railway infrastructure and their efforts over the last half-decade catching up with the neglect from the previous decade.

Where has a community campaigned against trains and trams?

There is little to no campaigns for investment in rail infrastructure, cost its not cool and its expensive.

Meanwhile a stronger rail links would facilitate better passenger travel, better cargo transport and remove a lot of our massive aviation and trucking dependence.

And it's better for the environment.!!

But instead we piss about over stupid policies that swing in and out with each change in government. 😮‍💨

All modern cars have spyware. It's not just a Chinese thing.

Though I do like the idea of better public transport below.

Ohh 100%, only difference is some are more overt about it than others.

Why can't electric cars come down in price like TVs do

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't know anything about TV prices. Can you please elaborate?

[–] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I know the prices now are down probably like 70% from 10 or 15 years ago

Do ICE cars come down in price like TVs?

[–] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

They have very similar price change but up instead

I mean, they did come down in price / km of range quite drastically in the last 15 years. 2011 Nissan Leaf could barely go 160 km on a charge for $32780, while the 2026 Leaf can go almost 500 km for $29990. It's like a three-fold decrease in terms of $/km.

In Australia you can get a BYD Atto 1 for 27k, which is 6k less than the cheapest new Toyota.

They have.
