My favourite thing to do with Al is to have the kids create their main characters, some outline of a plot and have Al write the bedtime story.

Will Slappey

Frank Carlson interesting idea. I'll have to check that out. Which model do you like best for that?

I've been doing it for about a year now on ChatGPT. I reply to the same thread and stories are getting much better based on our feedback. The kids love giving the machine feedback on it's writing, lol! Have fun!

In my day you listened to your grandpa retell Song of the South and asked him wtf a tar baby was after.

feedback on it’s writing, lol!

Yeah, maybe if you read actual books to your kids, you wouldn't have made that mistake.

Oh the irony.

Hardcore eyeroll.

WHY are people so fascinated with it. No wonder there's a correlation between dumb people and llm slop obsession.

as I've said before, and I'll continue to say it time and time again, people are dying from mediocrity, dying from a vat of redundancy.

much like how people believed psychics "predicted" the future. So too, they think this AI framework will replace human intelligence, when they have no fucking understanding how it operates.

You may think this is new behavior, I'm saying it isn't. historically we have believed, been mislead, by psychics, by magicians, that women aught to be believed as witches, and people with epilepsy were controlled by the devil. This isn't new behavior by any regards, AI operates in a similar fashion by popularizing it, and never explaining how it works -- much like how a magician performs a trick, and never explains how he did it.

its how AI companies get away by firing every engineer because of "AI improvement" and their stock price goes up. any rational person with two fucking braincells could piece this is just bullshit and an attempt to implicitly fearmonger the general population to boost their stock price.

AI companies have not mastered the mechanic of belief, how do I know, because there is no faith registered in their name. It was given to them.

"Relationship Builder"

Outsources interacting with thier own children.

[–] HackerJoe@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

Well he uses linkedin. So "relationship builder" probably means spam peddler.

[–] llamapocalypse@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

ew, that's fucking bleak

When I wanted to outsource my imagination when telling my little brother bedtime stories, I just told half remembered Greek myths ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] decended_being@midwest.social 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I genuinely think that's awesome! Telling kids made up or half remember stories is really wholesome.

[–] Jumi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I love starting somewhere and then let me surprise myself where it goes. Most stories just fizzle out without an end because my nieces just fall asleep.

Trillion dollar valuation right here.

[–] horn_e4_beaver@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Outsourcing my imagination never felt so successful!

I mean, we all do that when we read books or watch movies.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Reading a book or watching a movie requires engaging your brain in some way. This guy isn't engaging his brain in any way whatsoever. He's completely offloaded this onto the AI.

However, this is still better than just plopping your kids in front of the TV, because at least they have to use their imagination in some way.

[–] kambusha@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I agree tbh. How is having a story created, and then reading it different from just reading a book? The weird part is telling people about it on LinkedIn.

If the argument is that the parent always used to make up stories for the kids, and then that was replaced with AI, then sure, take away their parent of the year award.

[–] KAtieTot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Because booking are made with the intent to impart some meaning or lesson onto the children?
