The eclipse photo might be my favorite from the mission so far. That's an incredible shot.
it's especially cool how close the moon feels. as if it's finally in reach again.
Tell me I'm the only one seeing a worm on the moon surface π³

I see they've turned off the GPS coordinates in the EXIF data, to stop us from knowing that these images were created in a VFX studio in Hollywood.
Can't pull the wool over my eyes, man!
Just out of interest but what is the GPS coordinates of Luna orbit?
Well, those guys wouldn't be able to tell you...
I know nothing about this so it is purely speculation, but my first thought would be that it simply wouldnβt work.
But from a purely mathematical standpoint, the gps receiver would probably be able to see the satellites just fine, so assuming that worked, it could triangulate its position as the point on earth closest to them (the middle of the globe from their perspective), and then just give them an extremely high altitude.
That said, I know consumer technology (I believe they are using an iPhone) automatically turns off gps if it detects you are flying at a high enough speed, to prevent you from using it to guide a missile.
It should work, NASA is working on it. https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/somd/space-communications-navigation-program/nasa-successfully-acquires-gps-signals-on-moon/

Oh. My. God.
They have a Playstation on the moon.
That eclipse photo is absolutely stupendous, worthy of its own post! Are those brighter trio of stars planets?
Yep! Saturn, Mars, and Mercury, respectively

Off topic, but how cool would it be if NASA started its own Pixelfed server for official pictures like this?

Nice. Prime seat for nuclear war :3
Flyby photos were just uploaded! https://www.nasa.gov/gallery/lunar-flyby/
The "download" buttons link to images that end in ~large.jpg but if you change them to ~orig.jpg you get the original images (they even still have the EXIF data).
Can we go back to worshipping celestial bodies? Please uwu
hope we will still alive to be able to see their awesome shots of earth with all the mushroom plumes from the nuclear bombs going off
And if you look really close on the right hand side, you can just make out the disturbed ground surrounding the entrance to the underground Chinese base.
