Wait why is this back on the agenda now?
Was it ever off the agenda? It's always been a divisive topic, pro-remain has only grown since the referendum.
Hmm... that certainly isn't how it appears from the outside.
I remember the original referendum being a shock outcome.
It wasn't an overwhelming "yes", and it seemed as though a lot of people voted to leave as a protest or to send a message.
Since then there seemed to be numerous off ramps or at least methods to mitigate the damage but none of which had much support. In the end you elected a succession of PMs on a platform of "just getting it done".
Pro-remain in a kind of laissez-faire sort of "oh yes chaps it would've been better to import Bree with no tariffs" kind of way may have increased since the referendum, but people have not been protesting every week since the referendum.
Hence my question, what has prompted this protest at this time ?

What can I say, we've had a succession of stupid PMs elected through our flawed election system. If you ask me it needn't have been an unmitigated disaster if they had the creativity to think beyond "brexit means brexit" but that's the calibre of people they are, it's been very frustrating.

I don't know about every week but there have been plenty of protests, it's nothing out of the blue.
A report came out quantifying the humungous economic cost of Brexit so far, and left wingers are considering putting membership back on the table.
It never was off the agenda, because the long term detrimental effects on the economy have become more and more visible as time goes on.
