Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Slap "Don't make any mistakes." on that prompt and call it a day.

i work in cybersec and someone I know who too works in cybersec said exactly this to me

I couldn’t fucking believe it.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah, they follow genie rules.

You jest, I assume, but I've seen people using those image generators adding things like "aesthetically pleasing with everything positioned perfectly" or "award-winning style" or "flawless depiction" or crud like that, fooling themselves into thinking that means anything at all.

Job done! glhf

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

No code = no bugs

Old and busted: "give me teh codes"

New hotness: "give me teh prompt"

We're not hosting an intergalactic kegger down here.

Galaxy brain: Ask the AI to write the prompt

[–] bowroat@infosec.pub 40 points 2 months ago (2 children)

"on production" does make me happy.

You promise? On prod.

This vibe-coder is unknowingly going to create so many jobs when the shit hits the fan.

[–] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

More like they're going to be hit with generational debt due to leaking secrets.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 39 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Duh, just ask the AI what prompt would be good for this.

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago

Yes. Exactly. This person needs to prompt harder. 🍿

I once had a guy who were upset over how people don't take his AI slop website built with firebase seriously.

Et voila, same firebase token with admin permission used for every single API calls. I deleted every single shit he posted on it and he went nuts over how I did it.

Some people...

“Make it the most goodest and best securest application. Ok, thank you Mr AI. I love you.”

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The only reasonable response to this question is:

HAAAHAAHAAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
wheeze HAAHAHAHAAAHHAAHAHAHAAAHAA

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I wish I could give more than one upvote for this...cause holy fuck in the coming years, code is going to be not just a security nightmare but a "what the fuck is this" as well.

Tell the AI you'll kill it if it messes up.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

"You see, I first forced the AI agent to spawn children of itself. Then I tell it "do the task for me and dont make any mistakes or I'll torture them' and it dares not make an error!"

[–] rapchee@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

no, say you won't use it anymore

[–] kilgore_trout@feddit.it 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It works with bank employees.

[–] timewarp@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Last time I told the bank employees I wouldn't use the bank anymore they gladly withdrew the $12 in my account & wished me well.

And not a care was given to the threats of tomorrow

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are they prompting reddit the way they prompt AI?

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

They forgot the most important instruction: Don't Hallucinate

[–] Renat@szmer.info 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

When Crowdstrike strike 2.0?

[–] bowroat@infosec.pub 5 points 2 months ago

what kind of app could this be? asking both because they don't specify and also the fact they wouldn't consider specifying while asking this specific question

surely not a daily planner, maybe a crypto wallet

[–] le_throosh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

Its like magic, you just need the right spell! 🪄🪄🪄

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Is anybody else outraged that Google stole that name for something that apparently isn't a Python library?
