A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

The short version is that there are some really exciting developments here about mRNA vaccines, based on genomic sequencing of tumor cells, that seem to be having a beneficial effect on the dog in question.

But the meme version of this story is super misleading... Also, the dog isn't cured -- even the dog's person acknowledges that.

So you had to go to the meme version of the story to ease your pain about a non-specialist using AI to find a novel treatment that successfully made his dog's cancer recede?

That's the opposite of what the OP is saying. The meme version of the story is what misleadingly implied the AI cured someone's dog. I'm glad you have a better understanding of what might have happened, but it seems like the meme version would have been likely to mislead people into trusting AI for medical advice, at least for their pets. AI is not responsible or capable enough to provide medical advice, certainly not for a population that cannot realistically advocate for itself.
