❗️NEW footage shows moment when the US launched surface-to-surface HIMARS missiles towards Iran, from Kuwaiti soil.

The myth that Persian Gulf countries aren’t helping the US is officially over.

Does Israel gain or lose from rising oil prices? Genuinely have no clue what their logistics supply chain is so :p

[–] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Israel is not a petrol state AFAIK, relying on imports for 99% of its consumption.

Net neutral. Though it imports its energy, its backer, the US is a net exporter and it will offset Israeli losses.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago

As far as I can recall, Israel is not the one footing the bill but the whole West. Israel's existence depends on the West support.

With that context, a better question will be if the West can sustain themselves with oil prices over $120+ USD.

🇮🇷🇺🇸🇹🇷| Turkey announced an Iranian ballistic missile was intercepted in Turkish airspace by NATO systems in the eastern Mediterranean.

🇺🇸🇮🇷🇹🇷| The US used one of its expensive SM-3 interceptors to down the Iranian ballistic missile heading towards its base inside Turkey.

This base is crucial and one of the most difficult (geopolitically) for Iran. This base has one of the remaining AN/TPY-2 radars.

I really hope if nothing else this war teaches countries that hosting a US Military base is not a risk free endevor no matter what the US says

[–] Marat@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

So if it required 500000+ American troops to invade Iraq given all the advantages they had, would it even be possible to start an invasion of Iran with 1 million+? Even getting into the gulf is difficult rn and theyd probably have to call up every reservist they have to start it. But...I mean, you never know with this admin

❗️ Updates on Lebanon:

  • Lebanese Gov announced its ready to talk with Israel directly under any format outside Lebanon

  • Lebanon's PM and President are furious about the Lebanese army statement about the countering of the Israeli raid in Nabi Cheet in the presence of "local armed support"

  • Lebanese state, while hesitant to replace the army commander", is already discussing other names

  • France's Macron called Netanyahu about Lebanon. Israel didn't say what it intends to do nor showed any promises. They are busy in Iran and only inflicting damage on Lebanon so far.

  • Almost ALL Lebanese political parties are rallying against Hezbullah.

  • PM Nawaf will meet the commander of the Lebanese army soon, to implement the decree to outlaw Hezbullah's military and security apparatus.

Nawaf is expected to rebuke Haykel over the army's statement and actions

🇮🇷| Iran’s IRGC Navy says it carried out an offensive operation against American terrorists, striking the “Al-Udayri Helicopter Base” (Camp Buehring) in Kuwait with various drones and cruise missiles.

The announcement says this highly significant operation, foiled operational plans, and eyewitnesses and informed sources reported a panicked evacuation from the base.

In this attack, 11 highly important targets at the base were hit by several missiles and drones.

Among the destroyed targets were the base’s fuel tanks, gas tanks, the American helicopters’ ramp, logistics and support facilities, and the base’s infrastructure installations.

🇺🇸🇸🇦🇮🇷| It appears that the US is evacuating its Air Force tankers from its Saudi Arabia base.

These tankers had been supporting bombing operations in Iran, and now they have been evacuated to Europe, out of Prince Sultan Airbase.

The evacuation comes after intense attacks on the base last night.

LOL, the US through Lindsey Graham just threatened the Saudi regime. 😂

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago

I can't stop laughing every time they put "the Kingdom" and followed up by "the Iranian regime".

[–] Marat@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Capable" and "Saudi military" should never be put together by a serious person

If the Gulf monarchies began expanding and empowering their militaries they would be couped in a heartbeat. A national army of citizens would depose them for being the traitors to their own people that they are.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 Now, with the US war on Iran, Daddy has no time for Ukraine.

[–] Marat@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Honestly I just want the front to collapse already. I'm so sick of this guy, the conflict, all of it. Honestly I'm surprised Putin hasn't pulled a trump and tried just blowing up/kidnapping Zelensky. Maybe that'd work

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 months ago

Ain't like Ukraine hasn't repeatedly tried a decapitation strike either.

[–] cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago

If anything i think what we have seen vindicates Putin's decision to not go there. Decapitation strikes don't work out the way you think they will. Besides, Zelensky is incredibly unpopular and incredibly incompetent.

[–] Malkhodr@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago

🇮🇷| Iran’s IRGC Aeroforce Commander:

“From now on, no missile with a warhead lighter than 1 ton will be launched (against Israel).

The frequency of launches, their intensity, and the scope of operations will increase significantly.”

In the previous megathread, someone posted about unrest in Bahrain, and the monarch supposedly fleeing the country.

Does anyone have more information on that? I don't think the monarch fleeing thing was correct, but I've heard Whispers of the Shia population being very displeased with their sunni monarch playing along with the US.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

For now and as far as I checked, there are no official channels from either side that have spoken about it.

If I get confirmation, I will share it here.

🔴America hid its air defense behind the oil reservoirs of the regional countries!

The responsibility for future incidents lies with Trump!

"Dr. Morandi," political analyst:
🔹 I have been informed that the Trump regime has deployed some of its launchers and air defense systems near the oil reservoirs of the regional countries and fires from those locations.

🔹 If bigger incidents occur during attacks on these centers, the blame lies with Trump and the regimes that allowed them to be present and fire from their soil.

🇺🇸 “Short-term pain for long-term gain” - This seems to be the new propaganda angle from the US.

First stage: "Our capabilities are overwhelming, we will utterly and easily annihilate Iran."

Second (current) stage: "Ok, they are causing us a little bit of pain and damage, but it's temporary, we promise."

I wonder when the third stage will be.

Reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZggCipbiHwE

(some in the comments even pointed it out too, from the other end lol:

"Short term pain, but long term gain"

They just did it again💀

And the US has to gall to accuse other countries of blatant narrative manipulation against the population's own interests. As usual, every accusation is a confession.

🇮🇷🇺🇸| Senior Iranian military source:

Trump’s claims that the war is nearing an end are a political illusion with no basis on the ground.

Iran has categorically rejected all proposals for a ceasefire and says it will continue the war until its stated objectives are achieved.

Any US attempt to occupy Iranian islands will face a severe and unexpected response, with consequences extending to countries hosting US military bases in the region.

[–] ChristchurchAsshole@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 months ago (4 children)

My opinion: Trump is about to lose control of the narrative and risk severe backlash over economic conditions. So he's going to pull a Bush Jr. and claim Mission Accomplished. Let's hope Iran keeps on attacking and piles on the pressure. If this goes on for another week then Trump's own base will abandon him. Marjorie Taylor Green and Tucker Carlson have abandoned Trump and MTG's comments were extremely ruthless. She's pointed out that Americans are suffering from high costs of rent and insurance and that the war is a betrayal. Trump can't risk a backlash from working class Americans and he may try to exit the war. His hope is that Iran goes into a civil war then he can pretend to wash the blood off his hands and go back to blaming "moolars" and "radical islam" and "terrible people". Afterward, Trump (or a future president) can come back in the future and finish off Iran. That can't be allowed to happen. MAXIMUM PRESSURE on Trump plz, both in Hormuz Strait and inside the U.S. Just one more week will ruin Trump and change the narrative against him. Missiles and drones away!

Trump comments suggest he may be ready to declare victory 09:18 BBC

Is Donald Trump ready to declare victory in the Iran war? His comments to CBS News seem to suggest this.

Of course, what victory means in a war whose goals were vague and frequently contradictory is not entirely clear.

The president has said that Iran’s military has been significantly degraded. “There’s nothing left,” he told CBS.

But if the goals were to definitively eliminate the nation’s nuclear programme or to shepherd in a more US-friendly government, the success has been much less certain.

Trump was starting to feel the heat, however. Over the weekend, oil prices had shot up to more than $120 a barrel. American stock market futures and foreign exchanges indexes were sinking. By yesterday evening, Trump had posted on social media that higher oil was a “small price to pay” for US and global security.

Following Trump’s assurances on Monday afternoon that an end is in sight, the US stock market rebounded and oil prices dropped precipitously.

That may reflect a firm belief that the president is, in fact, planning to wrap up his military operation and fears of a protracted regional conflict were overstated.

Or it could be wishful thinking. History has proven that starting war may be easy, but ending one – particularly in the Middle East – is much more challenging.

🇮🇷🇺🇸| Iran’s FM, Araghchi, in reaction to CENTCOM publishing HIMARS systems in an Arab country:

“Thank you CENTCOM for admitting that you are using our neighbors' territory to deploy HIMARS systems against our people, apparently including a desalination plant.

Nobody should complain if our powerful missiles destroy these systems wherever they are in retribution.”
