President Donald Trump made a bargain with India this week that introduced a simple calculus.

America dramatically lowers tariffs on Indian goods.
India stops buying Russian oil in favor of Venezuelan and American crude.
Russia will be deprived of a core customer and source of funding for the war in Ukraine.

This would surely hurt Venezuelan-Indian relations? Also Modi needs some answering to do.

The whole thing is a fantasy even as the article admits. There is zero chance of India stopping buying Russian oil, but on top of that the infrastructure in Venezuela doesn't even exist to support this scheme. So, even if a miracle happened and India agreed to this, it's going to take years to actually make it happen.
