Sad that this won't amount to anything.
Too much plausible deniability, no immediate consequences. This will blow over in a week or less.
I'm frustrated, it's frustrating.
A lotta people need to be dealt with for any real change. You cannot rely on the swaying of the masses via news. Too many people are too dumb to actually think.
Maybe they're too dumb for thinking, but they have other qualities, like a natural propention of getting angry.
Too much plausible deniability
And they can easily spin this to say the system wasn't working correctly and that all the locations were wrong for reasons.
For MAGA it isn't really about plausible deniability. They are pretty much immune to reality.
At this point a person can be standing with a bloody knife and a dead corpse that was clearly mutilated by said knife, but if the person holding the knife is a billionaire, absolutely nothing will happen to him.
The people who love shouting at people they hate don't want to believe it, and if the last decade has taught us anything, it's that no matter who you are, no matter what your education, political ideology, or background... everyone willingly discards reality in favor of something that makes them feel validated in some way.
Kayfabe isn't a cultural phenomenon, it's hardwired into us. And the worst people are leveraging it against the greater good.
Shocked Musk would hide the location feature he wanted added.

He might be so surrounded by yes men and sycophants that he believes the grift and thinks honesty will help prove his points.
Problem solved.
Given that every single potential fracture line in Western society (gender, generation, religion, politics, mod vs rocker) is now hyper polarised, it’s kind of hard to argue in good faith that the Russian troll-farms set up to agitate this weren’t in some part a success. Best case we were going to end up doing to ourselves in the online era anyway and they get to pretend they did it.
I don't think it's a natural tendency in humans. The whole echo chamber phenomenon yes but the idea that people would misrepresent the other on a way that is just pure fabrication.... Who am I kidding we've been doing this to the other since the damn of time!!!

I'm fairly confident the vast majority of people don't even know what lemmy is. In fact I'd wager more than 75% of the users on reddit don't even know what lemmy is or how to access it.
Uh try 99% of Reddit users. Beep boop bop.
Yeah. So it's a great place to test-drive social engineering with a smaller sample. Plus since most people here think they are the smartest of society, it becomes even easier.
