Maps have been around for centuries- they help us know what cultures were aware of in terms of their neighbors, other lands, and so on. Map making continues today, as we map other planets, the bottom of the seas, and continually produce high quality maps here that measure various aspects of culture, demographics, and geography.

That's a lot of missing dirt to make such a huge inlet from the Gulf.

The dirt isn't missing. The water is a lot higher.

Accurrate: Quebec became an independent country

Inaccurate: Natives got their own land

No man. Virginia ain't doing that shit again. Move that line, we're part of the east coast megalopolis now. Shit pops off, there are more than enough of us to kick the remaining racists and homophobes out, please believe.

Gotta dock points for using the term "Indian" to describe indigenous people.

[–] __nobodynowhere@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 months ago

There doesn't seem to be a consensus amongst native Americans as to which term is preferred.

[–] Tenderizer78@lemmy.ml 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

The term "Native American" encompasses the entirety of North and South America. The term "American Indian" is more specific and so I've heard that some prefer that term. The best answer is probably to use the proper name for each group of native Americans.

Can we all agree that creating a NEW religious ethnostate in the desert is a BAD idea? We all agree on that, right?
