What is a Tankie?

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in arguments that lack mutual agreement.
Brigading/Trolling — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from maliciously voting, commenting, or manipulating the post in any way. Tankies can explain their views, but may be criticised or challenged for them. Any minor infraction of the rules may result in a warning and possibly a temporary ban.

The problem is serious, but also the antisemitism is only incidental. If the positions were reversed, they would be anti-Arab partisans, crying for the 'genetically-based ethnic cleansing' of Arabs. The core of the issue is that it's just team sports to them instead of the lives of millions.
Everywhere does. It's not just that actual antisemitism is on the rise, though: talking about it at all has become difficult. Israel has done an unbelievable amount of damage to Judaism worldwide by working to conflate anti-genocidal sentiments with anti-Jewish ones. Any time I see anyone being accused of antisemitism my first reaction is "no, Israel doesn't represent all Jews and they're committing fucking mass murder," which gives cover to people who really are talking about shadowy globalist conspiracies or whatever.
And talking about it with other Jews is more exhausting than anyone else, because often it turns out they're also confusing the two. Then I have to walk a tightrope between trying to help someone see their own hypocrisy and making them tune me out entirely. I've had enough of that impossible type of conversation while trying to talk down the Trump voters I know, thankyouverymuch... it makes me want to disconnect from the community entirely. Disgusting and shameful aren't strong enough words.

No use with antiyanks, unfortunately - he gets banned and makes a new account with a new name every week or so. It's his 'distinctive' style, and obsessive choice of targets and canned phrases, which make him recognizable.
Well, good for him for putting his energy into effecting real change in the world 😐
