General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

An estimated 600,000 people marched through central London to Downing Street on Saturday to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Nakba.

The demonstration began at Embankment before passing Big Ben, crossing the river to Waterloo and ending up outside Downing Street.

If there’s any justice in this world, Israel will be a pariah state within my lifetime.

Israel used to be a pariah state. Locked out of university funding, routinely admonished by the UN. At some point Europeans had enough and didn't care that brown people were being genocided so started to do business with them and money talks way more than children starving. The US always didn't give a shit, but that's the US for you.

In your lifetime it isn't going to happen. 🫠

I'm sure that this will work, just like it did when I participated in the march against the war on iraq. /s

Also, if it does work, I'm sure that the military forces that represent Palestine will surely start behaving in a way that doesn't attack Israeli civillians. /s

Stop the violence, but fuck both groups of people.
