I believe its just rage bait at this point
That seems to be the trend in the industry a lot for some reason at the moment. The shows that are just like complete garbage are getting season after season and the actual good shows that practically everyone is begging for another season of just die quietly.
You forget that "everyone", i.e. the people who post comments on sites like Reddit or Lemmy are just a small minority of the actual audience. Just because the nerds like something, doesn't mean it's actually popular. These decisions are made by viewer count. If a lot of people watch something, it gets extended. If not, it doesn't.
Well then I guess I miss the time when only nerds used to watch anime.
No you don't. The money this show prints makes others possible. Don't gatekeep only because you dislike what the mainstream likes

It's obvious she likes him but has a low self esteem and doesn't want to be a burden to Kazuya. All the signs are there and really thought the plot was going somewhere after the Joypolis date but nope back to square one. This intellectual property is printing money and it's obvious the mangaka doesn't want to end it or show signs of ending for this reason.
