I guess Joplin or Branson would be the only other options, but I haven’t lived there in years.

KCMO does not want to be in another state, because it is far, far superior - and older than its Kansas counterpart, which oddly enough is named after it.

That’s right.

Kansas City, KS is named after Kansas City, MO

Yep. The Kansas River was originally named after the native Kansa (or Kaw) tribe. Then the city was named after the river. Then a while later, the state was also named after the river and the other city was named after the first city. Clear as the muddy river.

If you don't mind me asking, whats that big, greener patch in the south east? Forest? Swamp?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

thems the Ozarks. people go there to smoke meth and disappear.

„Disappear” in a (somewhat) good way or in a “mutilated body found three years later” way?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

both

except, bodies never leave the Ozarks. at least, not whole.

Branson is a shithole tourist trap that's dead or dying.

Joplin is famous for its tornado.

those two aren't doing Missouri any favors.

How about Springfield?

My parents retired to the Ozarks 30ish years ago. Beautiful area, had a house built on the side off a mountain in the middle of nowhere (Cape Fair technically, but same difference.) I just remember Springfield being the closest city if you needed anything better than what the Walmart in Branson West could provide.

A shithole with absolutely terrible traffic issues
