You know that "hate crimes" are actually pretty rare, right? The only other groups that are typically the victims of hate crimes are LGBTQ folks...and they make up an even smaller percentage of the population than Jews do. So, that number is not as unbelievable as you're making it out to be.

Are you joking? When was the last time you heard of a hate crime being committed against a black person in New York city? (Aside from it involving a cop, that is.)
Hate crimes don't consist of just your run-of-the-mill racist tirade, or rabid Karen moments. They are targeted assaults against a person or a place with the specific intent to send a message to the entire community. It's basically a form of social terrorism.
Classic examples are things like burning a cross on someone's front lawn. Or spray painting swastikas all over a Synagogue. Which is why half the reported hate crimes in New York are against the Jewish community. They do get targeted with that type of shit on a fairly regular basis...and it is getting worse.
So, fuck off with that "hoax" bullshit. Sure, there are examples where people make shit up for attention, now and then. But, there are also a ton of pseudo-nazi, white supremacist assholes out there, feeling very emboldened by the current political climate in the US right now, given the shifting attitudes towards Israel.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why there's an uptick in antisemitism lately. But, it does take a special kind of someone to pretend that it isn't happening.

What are you talking about? The video with the NYPD chief? Dude, nothing in that video supports what you're saying. No one is saying that Palestinian flags are a hate crime. That's just stupid. You don't have to like her as a person to be able to listen to what she's saying, and understand what she's talking about. She even says that you can protest whatever you like...even if she doesn't personally agree with you...but if you commit a crime, that's a different story. There is nothing wrong with her saying that. That's literally what you want a police chief to be saying.
And what "factual" number are you talking about? She gives a bunch of percentages at the point you start the video. And again...percentages are not total numbers. An "increase of 80%" can mean a total of 18 events this year, if last year there were only 10. Your argument still seems petty and ridiculous.

That's not exactly what she said, though. She said that there were thousands of anti-genocide protests going on...(which is obviously going to be contributing to the anti-Israel / anti-Jewish atmosphere)...and that there are some of the most vile displays of anti-Semitism happening lately.
But, if I'm not mistaken, this is where she takes the opportunity to distinguish between her responses to "protests" and "actual criminal behavior". Because there is a difference, and she's right to point that out.

The only way to have any kind of constructive conversation about these topics, is if we all approach them with some level of seriousness and integrity...calling out bullshit when we see it, while trying not to muddy the waters with our own.

Let me ask you something. Did you go to the NYPD hate crimes dashboard YOURSELF, and try to verify what he's claiming? And did you even bother to look up the terms that are being used in that database?
I did. And yes, they're using a vague placeholder category for all kinds of different "crimes". It covers everything from "stalking" to "verbal harrassment" to "vandalism", and a bunch of other categories. The database itself doesn't have a full, comprehensive list of every possible crime that could be committed.
But, as your meme-guy even admits, that doesn't mean those reports are fake. Only that he couldn't verify what they were. But here's the thing. You can't even "verify" the reports that do have a specific charge attached to them. That's not how that database even works. So nothing that guy is saying about that database is even valid. It simply doesn't mean what he's implying it means.
And for the record, I'm NOT "batting for Zionists". That's just more of your own psychological baggage interfering with your perceptions. Which is exactly my point. You are looking for shit to be mad about, and you're twisting the facts to match your expectations.
