We basically have been since the puritans landed on Plymouth Rock.
I was going to write something sarcastic about transatlantic relations, but honestly we deserve some blame for the Puritans. The English Reformation and its consequences were fairly severe.
Because their leaders are idiots who think attacking the symptom will eliminate the cause.
And Vietnam. And Iraq. And Afghanistan. And koreas. The US is just terrible at war tbh.
