this was why everyone's top priority should have been keeping trump out of office

now we have genocide in gaza AND cuba AND iran

and that's ignoring the absolute clusterfuckastrophe happening in every aspect of life (including genocide) inside the usa for everyone who isn't a billionaire

[–] haxboar@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Seems to me that a much better priority would have been keeping anyone from bombing kids. Ya know, like the bombings under Biden, and Obama, and Bush, and Clinton and the Other Bush.

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

yeah exactly the democrats should've focused on beating trump instead of lying about biden's fitness, instead of not having a primary, and instead of refusing our demand that they not support fucking genocide

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah basically this; like I didn't think it took much intelligence to figure that convincing one or two human beings to change their actions would be monumentally easier than trying to convince literal millions; I thought it was basic math but apparently this is calculus level stuff here

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 3 points 2 weeks ago

He’s what the people wanted, I’m told by people that hate Bernie.

Shame it couldn't have been Kamala's top priority.

Also a shame everyone expended their energy trying to convince millions to ignore Kamala and Biden's support for Israel rather than convince just two human beings to just stop.

Also let's be honest here, you don't believe a word you're saying; if we were supposed to overlook Kamala's insistence on supporting the genocide, then why not just let Biden continue running for office? Who cares if he's senile? I thought the idea was to make sure someone else wins the presidency, right? Like, it's okay to be discerning when the candidate is senile, but not when they're partners in genocide?

You don't believe a word you're saying.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

what?

the department of education is wrecked. the CDC is wrecked. the EPA is wrecked. the FDA, DHS, FBI--literally every part of the government--no, they weren't "good" before, but now they're literally nothing more than trump's playthings run by technofascist henchmen whose only qualification is unwavering blind loyalty to pantshitter-in-chief.

yes, president kamala = genocide in gaza. but again, trump = genocide in gaza AND cuba AND iran AND fascist amerikkka

you can keep throwing out these arguments against voting against trump until you're blue in the face, and i'll keep shitting on them. your turn

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

You can keep trying to convince yourself you were fighting the good fight by voting for genocidal zionists (because you ain't convincing anyone else). I hope it keeps you up at night knowing that literal genocide is not a red line for you.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

i voted against trump. i sleep fine. i couldn't care less whether you believe me or not. but you're not going to sit there and say i don't believe myself

there is absolutely ZERO path to improving anything under an R government

edit: by the way, i think you should know: the united states of america will NEVER stop fellating israel, no matter who is president

So close…

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

you're not going to sit there and say i don't believe myself

If you did, you would've addressed what I said, but you didn't because you don't.

Why didn't you all focus all that energy on convincing Biden and Kamala to just stop? If Trump winning was all that mattered then why did Biden need to drop out? Who cares if he's senile, the idea was that anyone but Trump should win, right? Everyone should vote for a senile old man just so Trump loses, right?

People should care more about the people in their country than one across the world. American leftists should care about other American leftists MORE than a country across the world. Surely you don’t put fucking Gaza above YOU as a person! This is the stupidest fucking argument. If you don’t care about your own neighbor (let’s say they are just like you) then you don’t give a shit about Gaza. You need to help yourself before others. Come the fuck off it.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

Surely you don’t put fucking Gaza above YOU as a person!

Really fucking dropping the mask here. The fact you place "your own" people or yourself above others is telling. This is what we are talking about when we mean there is deeply ingrained white supremacy in westerners. You probably typed that out not even thinking how much it makes you sound like a white supremacist and a Nazi.

[–] ProletarianDictator@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

My neighbors are all genocidal maniacs, so no 💅

you tell me why bloodthirsty crackers should outweigh the lives of Gazans

Oh my god fuck off. Biden presided over this war and the US has been wanting war with Iran for almost 50 years. Trump is not the cause of America's evil he is a manifestation of it. Trump IS America.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump IS America.

LOL wow. i guess good luck with doing...whatever you think the solution is

  • Killer Kop Kamala
[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

They would've been fine with Kamala going to war with Iran, they're pretending they're against this war, but they're only against it because the guy running the war is Trump.

The last time Trump was president they were vocally outraged at the concentration camps that migrants were placed in, but the moment Biden became president they stopped caring, even though the camps were still there and running.

These people are liars; they don't give a damn about any of this; trying to prove Kamala would've also gone to war with Iran is meaningless because they would've been fine with HER doing it.

[–] skyline2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Ah yes the classic "no harm reduction, let's fucking accelerate because I'm privileged enough (or stupid enough) to imagine I'm immune to what happens in a failed state"

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If your harm reduction includes excusing genocide you need to take a long hard look in the mirror here at who is wrong.

[–] skyline2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

Why is it always the same old bullshit? I am not excusing genocide. A vote for Kamala (or for Biden in 2020, for that matter) is not an excusal of genocide. Anyone with an ounce of understanding knew that Trump would not give a fuck about Gaza in addition to accelerating the US toward being a failed state. It was literally "genocide+fascism" vs "genocide+less fascism". Easy fucking choice, to take an hour out of your day to choose the choice with less fascism. Objectively harm reduction. But somehow you reactionaries manage to arbitrarily equate a vote with being complicit in genocide. In actual fact, it is not a vote that makes you complicit if you live in this country. It is inaction.

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

. It was literally "genocide+fascism" vs "genocide+less fascism"

sounds like a country that shouldn't exist

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

What does it mean to you to be complicit.

Because while we all make compromises to survive under the current iteration of capitalism, people here would argue voting in support of a party prosecuting a genocide is a bridge too far.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

If you think Kamala would have been any better about Iran or Cuba you're more naive than I thought. In reality you fuckers would be defending the blockade and the war to the death if it wasn't Trump in office. People like you have been excusing genocide and imperialism my whole life occasionally voicing token opposition if the party you don't like is doing it. Spare us your self righteousness.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I live in California my vote doesn't fucking matter and even if it did I would still not vote for genocide with any qualifiers. And yes you are categorically excusing genocide.

[–] haxboar@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

Why is it always the same old bullshit?

But somehow you reactionaries manage to arbitrarily equate a vote with being complicit in genocide.

"Why do people keep pointing out that I supported genocide? They are being such big meanies!"

A vote for Kamala (or for Biden in 2020, for that matter) is not an excusal of genocide.

It's support for genocide. They were both very clear that they were going to support the genocide, and a vote for them was supportive of that.

Anyone with an ounce of understanding knew that Trump would not give a fuck about Gaza in addition to accelerating the US toward being a failed state.

Correct. Maybe the Democrats should have tried to stop him from winning, instead of handing him the election on a silver platter. Maybe the "electable" and "adults in the room" should have run a serious campaign, instead of the shitshow that we all saw. Maybe they should have listened to the voters.

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

The dems lost because they couldn't even pretend to put a fig leaf over their support for genocide. Your hypothetical idealism reduces no harm. not-listening

[–] haxboar@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Who said we should accelerate? I didn't see Johnny_Arson say that at all.

It's always amazing to me how people make up arguments to fight against, rather than addressing the one being made.

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Says the person who is ignoring the genocide of Arabs under Biden because you aren't Arab.

You are inarguably the privileged one.

[–] cavitationfetishist01@quokk.au 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yeah but the Democratic party wasn't willing to do literally anything to help with that after destroying everyone to their left over the past century. So here the fuck we are. Sleep in the bed you made or build a time machine, but please shut the fuck up about the failures you inflicted on us.

The shield arm of fascism is not an alternative.

[–] joostjakob@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Better to have disappointing people in power than genocidal ecocidal bastards...

[–] cavitationfetishist01@quokk.au 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

rather than

The policies they explicitly said they would both be doing?

Where's the option that isn't all three?

[–] joostjakob@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

At least among the Democrats there are some folks who oppose Israels actions. Things would likely have played out at least a bit less crazy with a Dem majority. Also, the Democrats have now twice joined the Paris accords, with Trump leaving them twice. And you don't see the Dems raging against "windmills". Defeatism has directly contributed to the world heating up several points of a degree more than it would otherwise have, which can potentially result in millions more deaths. Iran, Venezuela and Cuba would more than likely have been left alone without Trump. By all means, strive for something better. But don't let that come at the cost of something much worse. And don't spit on the graves of the folks whose life it has cost.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

Are you aware of what ms Rachel is talking about

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)
[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The genocide in Iran is carried out by their own government though. Yes Trump is a cunt and this moronic war never should have started but I’m not gonna sit here and pretend that the ayatollahs and IRGC are lovely people

[–] joostjakob@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well I guess they are between a rock (their own government killing them for protesting) and a hard place (the US and Israel blowing up their schools because they can't bother to aim properly).
