How did all these other countries do that, and not the US? I think it starts with "America doesn't have poor people, they have temporarily embarrassed millionaires". So everyone is voting in the interest of the capitalist class, because they want to believe they are part of it. Where that comes from is a matter of historical processes.

My immediate thought with this is that is to force the opponents to vote against it, so that it becomes another example to use as an argument for voting in people that aren't against any progress.

I think they're saying that an electorate that stupid wouldn't have been voting for reasonable policy even before that.

But but America number 1, no? So the new law should push them to the first place. They could call it the America Number One act.

It's a lobby organization in favor of the state of Israel. They spend significant amounts of money on elections, to favor the side that best represents Israels interest.

Edit: thanks for asking the question. So Wikipedia said they were founded after the backlash against Israel for their Qibya massacre. Which is when Israel decided to massacre a small village to make a statement ("kill any Jew and we will kill 20 of yours", I guess). And the world was actually outraged. Also the guy who led the operation would later become the prime minister of Israel. And the government of Israel communicated the obvious lie that they had nothing to with this heinous crime...

At least among the Democrats there are some folks who oppose Israels actions. Things would likely have played out at least a bit less crazy with a Dem majority. Also, the Democrats have now twice joined the Paris accords, with Trump leaving them twice. And you don't see the Dems raging against "windmills". Defeatism has directly contributed to the world heating up several points of a degree more than it would otherwise have, which can potentially result in millions more deaths. Iran, Venezuela and Cuba would more than likely have been left alone without Trump. By all means, strive for something better. But don't let that come at the cost of something much worse. And don't spit on the graves of the folks whose life it has cost.

Well I guess they are between a rock (their own government killing them for protesting) and a hard place (the US and Israel blowing up their schools because they can't bother to aim properly).
