Children aren't and shouldn't be responsible for making their parents happy.
That was my point. People with nothing to be happy about often use their children as substitutes.

Their original statement doesn't specify that they're shitting on specific types of parents, they simply answered that parents have kids when they don't feel happy about anything.
You're correct, they didn't explicitly spell it out for you. Because that's not how sarcasm works. You comprehended it incorrectly.
Reading sarcasm from text is notoriously difficult and with the amount of hatred towards women/parents and children on this site, well, sometimes I'm going to read it wrong. So be it.
