I hate to break it to you, but not one of those new houses is going to go to someone who actually needs a house

Most of them probably won't even have anyone living in them

Citation needed for the second part. On the first part, it'd be nice if there was more affordable housing as part of newbuulds, but more housing supply will also depress the housing prices, and the attempts to block everything on affordability are just fueling the housing crisis.
