UK/EU has had contactless payments via our bank cards for about 2 decades now. America caught up eventually some years later

When phones got the ability to act as our bank cards, it made sense for them to use something compatible with the same technology that was already deployed

Funnily enough, America (and I guess also Korea, given the companies) dragging their heels on standard contactless is one of the main reasons why Samsung/LG briefly put out a couple of generations of phones that had a magnetic stripe mimicking payment feature in addition to standard NFC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_secure_transmission)

Get knocked out in Tesco again?

unless you just aren’t taking care of yourself.

I think frankly, the tiring parts of music festivals for many people would very squarely fall into this category

Salt and pepper usually, the nutmeg not so much actually, but I pretty much only make it when I'm making a lasagne or as a step on the way to cheese sauce.

What's your best dish where it's the star?

I've gotta be honest I somehow missed the entire context added to the body, but OP gave a good answer anyway

Neither is a problem, leftover cheese will just get eaten as a snack if it's not enough to keep until I go to the shop next (I usually go every other day for something since it's a 2 min walk)

Leftover bread just becomes a piece of toast with some butter (I basically always have it in, and get the replacement before I totally run out). Tbh with a coffee that's just my normal breakfast some days anyway

Probably as a learning exercise so they know what developing and shipping for that platform is like.

Given they're currently building a similar product, makes sense to see what the competition is up to

Electronic music artist and tech creator Look Mum No Computer has been chosen to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, the BBC has announced.

Look Mum No Computer is a solo artist, songwriter and YouTuber, who is also described as "an inventor of unique musical machines."

The singer first arrived on the music scene back in 2014 as Sam Battle, frontman of indie rock band Zibra. The group performed at Glastonbury in 2015 for BBC Introducing. Since then, he has been performing and recording under his solo name.

"I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey," he said.

"I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year, so getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously."

Yep, it's still a nazi bar.

This is some not great news. I've been using NI (as well as izotope & plugin alliance) stuff for a very long time, and have hardware from them too. I imagine there are a lot of small sound design studios selling kontakt instruments who are a bit scared for the future now.

I really hope they're able to find a good solution for creators with the administrators.

Keir Starmer has been warned by senior Labour figures to stop making mistakes, before a battle over the party’s deputy leadership and amid fears the government could row back on workers’ rights.

As candidates began to jostle to replace Angela Rayner, the prime minister faced public criticism from Emily Thornberry, a potential contender, who said further mistakes from Starmer could lead to having to “hand our country to [Nigel] Farage”.

Andy Burnham also called for a “reset” and more pluralistic style, telling the Guardian that the government needed to be “listening to the heartbeat of the party”.

It is known across Liverpool as the Radio City tower but that moniker may not be around much longer as the structure hosts its final live broadcast on Christmas Eve.

Microphone cables are being bundled up and heaving contacts books packed into boxes, leaving empty what is arguably the most famous building of the city’s skyline – St Johns Beacon, to use its proper name.

Built in 1969, originally as a luxury revolving restaurant that was one visited by Queen Elizabeth II, the tower was listed Grade II in 2020, with Historic England describing it as “embodying the technological bravura and spirit of the space age”.

Uefa has warned ministers that England could be excluded from the European Championship it is co-hosting in 2028 over "concerns" that a planned independent football regulator could lead to "government interference" in the sport.

A bill to establish a body to oversee the top five tiers of the men's game in England was reintroduced in July.

The UK government has said the football watchdog will "protect clubs" by "ensuring their financial sustainability".

But in a letter sent to Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy and seen by BBC Sport, Uefa general secretary Theodore Theodoridis wrote: "We do have concerns remaining... as normally football regulation should be managed by the national federation.

Honestly, I will never wrap my head around how people can happily bring infants on any flight where you can expect people to try and sleep, it's incredibly lucky if they don't spend some of it screaming their heads off—I would be mortified if my choices were preventing hundreds of people from sleeping. But I'm not going to rant too hard about that.

Why on earth hasn't any airline started marketing adult-only flights?

It seems like a complete no brainer to me, I would choose it every time and pay extra for it.

Disclaimer: I may or may not be on a 36h day with only an hour of sleep right now

Let's kick off some slightly low effort content here:

Which is your favourite game in the series?

For me it will always be between Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert.

I think the story of TD is what pulled me into the series in the first place, and RA on Westwood online is what cemented me as a fan
