It’s likely not meant to pass. It’s to make them visibly reject the same requirements they casually sign off on for others, to highlight their hypocrisy. Same reason they did a house bill to release the Epstein files, when they vote no it looks bad, etc.

Well yeah. And also a productive use of their time. Though since they aren’t doing anything else productive, I suppose they may as well do this.

Yeah for sure. It’s a cynical act, but like you say it’s not like congress is going to actually do something good or useful at this point hehe.

Considering what this GOP Congress has been doing when they do pass something, I'm all for tossing whatever monkeywrench into the works can slow them down. Even if it doesn't accomplish anything except create sound bites for the 2026 campaign ads.
