The new Brisbane logo with descriptions of its components

Transcription of imageThe Brisbane Broncos logo is a right-facing head of a horse inside a shield, with the word "BRISBANE" above it. A curved stripe gives shape to the horse's head. The image shows the logo, with explanations of different components.

The name of this great city: So, no matter how far we go, people know

The mighty bronco: Eyes front, staring unflinchingly into the future

The shield: Representing our past, the foundation from which we build upon

The stripe: Our Brisbane River, relentlessly flowing forward.

In short:

Eli Katoa will miss the 2026 NRL season after undergoing surgery to relieve a brain bleed following multiple head knocks while playing for Tonga.

The Melbourne Storm star collided with teammate Lehi Hopoate before a Test against New Zealand, then copped two more hits to the head during the game.

Storm chief executive Justin Rodski said Katoa was back home in Melbourne after more tests and is "improving each day".

If you're missing your footy, I recommend checking out the Super League final that happened overnight. A worthwhile watch, and might be a nice primer for some of the English that will be in the national team.

A couple of former NRL players in there too like Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (his final game before retiring), Peta Hiku, Tyrone May and Bevan French.

Melbourne, Cronulla. Brisbane, Penrith.

Who are we thinking goes through to the big one?

Prior to the end of the season I was thinking it would be Canberra and Melbourne. Canberra obviously not going to happen but Brisbane and Melbourne is the next best thing. Or really as a Broncos supporter I should be saying the best thing.
