A consequence of the centralization of the web into fewer and fewer providers and monopolies is that talks of piracy dwindled on the internet over the years. Then with the streaming boom of the mid-2010s it was completely dead.

Now piracy has become a dirty word that people fear to utter. You can be banned on social media for talking about it, and most people just avoid the topic entirely. It's like jaywalking (you probably know the history but it was a 'crime' started by auto manufacturers to claim the streets back from pedestrians).

Talks of "it's on the pirate bay" have been replaced with 'it's on netflix. it's on hulu with ads. it's on amazon prime and they have a deal right now.'

And yes, this was really things people said. They would readily tell you to go look for it on thepiratebay, you had entire websites that hosted episodes of your favorite shows for streaming. I remember watching the simpsons on wtso, literally watch-the-simpsons-online. It wasn't just the circles I was in back in the day, people really talked more openly about piracy. Even when as far back as the early 2000s there were attempts already by the RIAA to equate piracy with violent crime.

People use debrid services they pay for just to watch shows when you can still torrent things as easily as before. They rationalize it as being cheaper than paying for streaming services - but I pay 0$ for stremio+torrentio addon. Maybe debrid services have their extra uses but they just seem like kind of a luxury from the way people talk about them. And yes torrenting works perfectly fine on a VPN.

Even wilder (but not unexpected) there are people who tie their self-worth to paying for streaming services. Apparently you're 'poor' if you don't pay 20$ a month for netflix. Even in the era of DVDs we already knew it was ludicrous to ask someone to pay 20$ for a DVD. IP gatekeeps media from people, it doesn't allow it to be made.

The message is clear: if you don't have money, you don't deserve to experience culture.

The economic arguments had been thoroughly discussed and concluded back in the 2000s already; studies showed that people who pirate are not likely to buy the content so there was no 'lost sale'. Piracy also makes a copy, it doesn't remove the original, so it's not the same as stealing.

For a while this gained traction, and then monopolies emerged and completely shut down any talk of piracy in the public sphere.

There's a talk of convenience, that it's more convenient to open up netflix or steam and buy the game or movie there. But is it? You have to login, provide payment info, etc. At its hardest pirating a game consisted of downloading the torrent, installing, running keygen, and then going on cdfreeworld or whatever it was called to download the no-cd fix. Today it's even easier, most games come in a portable format.

And yet it's never been easier to pirate things. Books, games, shows, are still just as accessible as they've ever been, maybe even more. Used to be emulating a nintendo DS at the time it was in production was out of reach of most people on their home computer, and you had to buy a super expensive microSD card that had maybe 256MB of space on it to run an R4 in your DS. Today, you can easily emulate the nintendo switch on a home machine. You can root your 3DS super easily by just following a guide, and even download games directly from an app on it (but I found it to be very slow bc of the wifi protocol the 3ds uses).

Not only that but piracy preserves material. All those IPs that holders just sit on and do nothing with because they might have a profitable idea for it down the line. All those books that don't get reprints that can still be read, and those games that can still be played when you can't find them in stores any longer.

Not only that but it creates fans who will go on to purchase media. It keeps licenses alive, so there's benefits to the capitalist corporations too. They just want to pretend it's a solved problem because they fear it hurting their bottom line. A lot of artists got discovered in the music industry by being widely pirated, which got them a record deal.

You also own your media this way; it's on your hard-drive. I remember when Steam became a giant in the video game selling business, people were worried about how you didn't really own the games. Steam can ban your account at any time and you'd lose everything you've ever bought from them. You have no recourse.

Emulators also help preserve games. Nintendo's own NES emulators aren't great, they fail at a lot of tasks. This is "just" the NES so they're pretty basic games, but this failure on tests means that emulation is not 1:1 accurate as if on a real machine and can start behaving strangely. Open-source emulators are better than the 'official' ones from the IP holders.

Even on here we self-censor about piracy and other topics so as not to draw attention to the lemmyverse. It's become a ubiquitous dirty word and in good company one must pretend not to know what piracy even is, because corporations demand it.

Hi, in this post I will share my way of playing pirated games in linux. There are various methods to pirate games in linux, this post will not cover all of them, just the one that works for me.

In short, I download cracked preintstalled windows games from trusted websites and run them using heroic games launcher (HGL).

In details below.

Getting the game files:

There are numerous websites that offer preinstalled games. For up to date and trusted list by the community always check fmhy. Visit the websites that offer preinstalled files. Extract the game files in a folder. I use a dedicated /games folder.

Running the game:

I use heroic game launcher to run the games. It uses wine/proton under the hood. Let's see how to setup heroic launcher.

STEP 1: Get the application. As far as I know, the developers recommend the flatpak version, it has to be given permission to access the the game folder using flatseal (or kde application permission manager if using kde). I have granted it access to the /games folder.

STEP 2: Download the latest proton-ge runner from the wine manager tab.

STEP 3: Click on "ADD GAME" in the library tab in HGL. If the name of the game is entered accurately in the title section, the launcher will autofill the cover art. Then select the GAME.EXE that launches the game. Then proceed to run game.

HGL can also be used to install and play games from epic game store, so the free games from epic can be played in linux as well. Repacks can be installed through HGL, but that didn't work for me, there are some decompression error. So I use preinstalled games instead and have faced no errors yet. This seems to be the easiest method for me. Eager to learn what other methods others use here.

edit: fixed some formatting

I came across this website a while ago: https://lucida.to/

It lets you rip high quality music files from streaming services. Didn't find much use of it in the past but lately I have been wanting obscure music I can't find on soulseek or private trackers and it has been immensely helpful.

As far as I understand the whole process takes place in your browser. I am guessing this because I face a lot of georestrictions because of where I am from and this website fails for services not available here. In my case though Amazon Music works so I was able to get a FLAC of Rise Above the Storm from Beyblade which makes me unreasonably happy.

The underlying library for ripping is open source according to the website.

For a long time Denuvo has been uncrackable. There was one prominent cracker who went by the name of EMPRESS but they have retired. Apart from this sometimes games like Football Manager would get cracked but the person behind it is not a prolific cracker.

Recently though someone named voices38 has started cracking many Denuvo games. I think they started from the older uncracked games, moving on to the newer ones gradually. I personally don't care for the games they have cracked but it is good to see that the games will be preserved from now on. Some recent releases by them:

  • Scott.Pilgrim.vs.The.World-voices38
  • Hi-Fi.RUSH-voices38
  • Need.For.Speed.Hot.Pursuit.Remastered.CRACKFIX-voices38
  • FIFA.21-voices38
  • Shin.Megami.Tensei.III.Nocturne.HD.Remaster-voices38
  • Star.Wars.Squadrons-voices38
  • FIFA.20-voices38
  • Need.for.Speed.Heat-voices38

Hopefully thye continue cracking.

By released I mean when the movie becomes available as a WEB-RIP, WEB-DL or a BluRay rip. I don't wanna set up Radarr because I am not that invested in movies. But there are some movies that I would like to watch. So being able to come to know when a movie is available in good quality would be nice.

I actually have Radarr installed but I only use it to get metadata. Radarr knows when a "not available" vs. when it is "missing". I am thinking of leveraging that to write a script that runs once a day and notify me about change from "not available" to "missing" using ntfy.

6

Won't someone think of the metadata? 🥺 Why is nobody taking us seriously

In the months that followed, no one came forward to represent Anna’s Archive in court. OCLC did name an archivist from the Seattle area as the potential operator, but they denied any involvement with the site and were eventually dropped from the case.

I downloaded it on SteamRIP, after which I attempted to run it as a non-Steam game, but it crashed upon attempting to execute it, so I ran it with the Protons 9, 8, Experimental, and Hotfix iirc, neither of which worked. I then removed it and tried to run the .exe through WineCharm, only to be greeted with error code 53 and the following log:

I know some of the dlls are missing, but I have no idea how to recover them. The only solution I have found on the internet is to disable antivirus, but I have none. Please help, I’ve been at this for hours and posted this on Reddit three hours ago to no avail. Apparently there’s a website you can download dlls from, but I really don’t want the stress of getting a virus off of it. Thanks comrades.

(also please boost this thread if you found it helpful, I think communities that are not often used get a deboost in the algorithm and I don't want this guide to end up with just 3 pairs of eyeballs on it 🥲)

Switch emulation has come a long way and works perfectly. In fact, I can even play some games on my phone - though you'll probably need snapdragon cpu and 8gb ram.

This is a guide to set up switch emulation on your phone or PC because fuck intellectual property.

tl;dr: you need an emulator, prod.keys and title.keys file, and a firmware. A website to download games and patches/DLCs and then you're good to go.

1- The emulators

The first thing you need is an emulator. They're all based on yuzu, but due to mimtendo piracy shenanigans, yuzu has stopped and other projects have popped up in its place.

Currently I would say there is Yuzu, **Ryujinx **(also abandoned iirc), Citron and Eden. All of these emulators work slightly differently, and you might get different performances on different games on different devices. My phone works great with Eden but that won't necessarily be the case for you. The best part however is you can easily install all of them and use a common folder for your games - we'll get into that.

Download the emulators from the official websites, even if it redirects you to their github or gitlab (in the case of Citron).

-> On Citron, there has been controversy about them requiring a dump of your switch data to verify you own one. As far as I can tell they never implemented that and it was going to be limited to the discord, because mimtendo will drag you to hell and back if you try to make emulators. That's why these emulators say they are only for playing and testing homebrews. It's a protective measure and Citron does not need to connect to the internet to be used.

So go ahead and install all the emulators you feel like testing on your device. If you're on android, download and run the apk from your device directly tbh. Once installed, open the emulator once and look at the instructions: they will likely tell you which keysand firmware versions you need.

2- Getting the prod keys and firmware

you will now need two things: prod keys, and a firmware. You can get both here: https://prodkeys.net/prod-keys/ (that's where I downloaded mine).

They make categories by emulator but this is just marketing. Prod keys are prod keys, any of them will work. Download either prod keys v20.3.0 or the ones specified by the emulator, and firmware v19.0.1 - not the newer firmwares. Most emulators don't work with the newer ones yet.

Download those files and keep them somewhere on your device. On Android I just make a folder in the root so that I have everything close by. For speed reasons, use the internal storage, not the SD slot. Then on the emulator, follow the instructions and specify the prod keys file and then the firmware.

The beauty of this is that if you install more than one emulator, you can do the same steps without redownloading the files. I keep my keys and firmware on my device for this reason.

3- Getting games

If you set up your emulator correctly (it will tell you), it will then ask for a game folder. Like with the prod keys, I recommend making a single folder that has all your switch games, and you just put them there. Then specify the same folder for every emulator, and it will find all your games automatically.

There are two things though: 1- you will have to set up your controls and overlay for every emulator, and 2- game saves are not automatically picked up by other emulators. But you can export your saves and import into another emulator.

So to get games, there are several websites. Personally I was recommended www.ziperto.com and so this is what I use. It may not be the fastest but it works. I have an ad blocker so idk if there are malicious ads on there.

What you want is the .nsp file. This is ready to be moved into your game folder, after which the emulator will automatically see it and add it to your library. You can also use .xci files but I've never had to try them so I can't tell you more about those.

Ziperto will have these links:

"Download" is for the base game (separated by languages when applicable), and then there are other links for any updates and DLCs. Ideally you'll want to grab your language base game and then every update and DLC.

Dump all the actual rom files into your games folder - ziperto adds their own ads in the zip but you can just delete those. Also move the dlcs and patches into that folder. There's no need to make subfolders or anything.

4- Applying updates and DLCs

Normally, your emulator will recognize the game files and create a card for it automatically. If it doesn't, refresh (exit and open again) or make sure you have selected the right games folder. It should look like this:

However, what if you have updates or DLCs? Make a long press (right click) on the game card, and it will open up a new menu. Tap "Extensions", "Install", then select either patch/dlc or mod. Understandably this will be patch/dlc. It will open your games folder, and just select the patch and DLC files one by one. It will tell you if it failed to install them but it should work without issues.

And that's it! From this point on you can play any switch game you want on PC or android. But...

5- What if you want to play Japanese games?

The switch is not artificially localized with PAL/NTSC etc regions. However, there are games that just never came out of Japan, with english fan patches (Umineko for example).

What you have to do there is first look online if there's an english patch for your game. Then download it. For the switch, it should normally come into a folder structure like this:

| patch folder
|_ romfs
|_ exefs

Move the entire patch folder to your game folder, and then instead of using patch/dlc installation (see previous step), use "Mods and cheats" option. Then, select the 'patch folder' folder - not the individual files within it but the parent folder that contains everything.

It should take seconds and install! And this is where emulation really shines, you now get access to potentially tons of games that were never made available in your language.

6- Changing the settings

Okay, one last quick chapter on how to set up the emulator in case it doesn't play a game perfectly.

First, try to change the settings. Exit the game, go into settings on the emulator, and fiddle around with the Advanced settings: audio driver, video resolution, etc. If you get a clicky sound, you're probably using the wrong audio driver (default is Auto, selecting automatically between either of two). I think cubeb is overall better for audio. For graphical glitches, try different things.

If it still doesn't fix your issues (I had this problem with umineko), try another emulator! That's the beauty of it imo. Settings don't transfer and you need to reinstall the patches, but that's why we keep everything in one folder. Umineko was giving me glitches on Citron, I switched to Eden, and it works perfectly now.

7 - Installing emulator On PC (Windows)

(Only windows because I don't know if it works the same on Linux).

I just installed Eden on Windows and the setup is a bit different. When you open it, it will tell you decryption keys are not installed. Click OK. Double click the interface with the huge folder icon on it to select your games folder, and it should detect all of them (Eden didn't detect some of my games but Citron does).

Next, open Tools in the menu and "Select decryption keys". Select your prod.keys file or title.keys file, it doesn't matter which one as it will automatically install both. Afterwards select "Install firmware" from the same Tools menu, and select either the folder or zip file of the firmware.

If you have patches and DLCs to install, open File in the menu -> Install to NAND. You can ctrl+A the entirety of your games folder (provided the patches and DLCs are in there) and it will automatically install what it finds. It says not to install base games from that tool but it should skip them if you select them. Keep it easy.

Basically it's a book that got both Yaroslav Hunka and Chrystia Freeland under fire from communist mags like The Maple, Canada Files, and Canadian Dimension. It was also recommended by communist party member Alex Boykowich who said it documents important lost history that kept hidden from public by the settler government. This is the book:

https://formaclorimerbooks.ca/product/family-ties-how-a-ukrainian-nazi-and-a-living-jewish-witness-link-canada-to-ukraine-today/

I'm familiar with DeDRM from Calibre and practically used I love cabbage de DRM python scripts on ADE reader for Overdrive. But I admit I'm not familar with the new game.

I've been trying to use it the past few weeks, but it seems like almost every time I try to download something it is either queued indefinitely, or gets cancelled really quickly.

I have no idea about the rules of this peer to peer sharing thing and I'm worried I might be breaking some unspoken community rule with how frequently it seems like people don't want me downloading their stuff. I do have a few things of my own that I share on there, so I'm not just fully leeching off of other people, but I still feel like I'm doing something wrong or pissing people off so they don't share their stuff with me.

Link to repo: https://github.com/porla/porla

Currently I use transmission on my SBC and for the most part it works. But there are certain issues with it that annoy me a lot. The biggest one is that the backend becomes unresponsive to clients at certain points like when it is reserving space for downloading a torrent.

However it is a mature piece of software so it is generally reliable outside of quirks like this. On the other hand porla seems newer so it won't be as mature. Anyone here tried it?

I am assuming Stalin would approve of this since he literally robbed trains. Also he's so handsome. So thats why hes my thumbnail.

Recently I have kind of realized that the way I use the internet isnt as common as I thought. I don’t watch ads ever, and I pirate a lot. I thought id share some methods and hopefully help others get a better online experience.

~~So I know theres a few piracy communities around that might work for some of this stuff, but its not all piracy and I want more people to see it so here we are~~

I wanted to make this because I think a lot of people don’t realize just how easy it is to save money, and time online. Even if you know some of these methods hopefully a few will be new to you.

Time to learn how to look like this IRL

We will go through some stages. Basic, Advanced, and Torrenting methods.

Basic

First things first is the web browser we are going to use. This guide will be based on FLOORP. A Fire Fox fork. Its what I use for general web use. For more privacy centric folks switch it out for LibreWolf and all this should still work fine with some tweaking. Or any Firefox variant.

Browser Extensions: Get these from the firefox extension store.

Ublock Origin: General adblock and doesn’t need much configuring. If it doesn’t block something you want gone you can right click it and block it manually.

Alternative Player for Twitch.tv: This will add a new web player for twitch streams which will block ads in the streams. It will drop the resolution while it blocks them to 480p and say “Hiding Ads” in the corner. I am pretty sure the streamer still gets paid since it has no way to know you arent watching them.

ClearURLs: Removes tracking elements from URLs

I still don’t care about cookies: Will get rid of annoying cookie pop ups on most sites by just accepting them automatically.

Sponsorblock for YouTube – Skip Sponsorships: Names self explanatory. Community powered so some new videos wont be flagged yet. You can configure what is skipped and isnt.

A few others I find useful, Dont Track Me Google, Twitch Channel Points Autoclicker, Unwanted Twitch, Youtube-shorts block, Pinyin Web(For learning chinese), Dark Reader.

Now at this point your browser should be basically ad free and debloated. I recommend messing with FLOORPs settings if you used that its got some nice customization options.

Now lets make use of it to get some free content.

Anime: https://kaa.mx/ or https://hianime.to/tv

TV/Movies: https://movies5.online/

Overall list of pirating sites and other useful things: https://fmhy.net/ This has all kinds of stuff. Definitely worth checking out. It even has textbooks for school.

I cannot stress enough that I would not go to piracy sites without the above adblocking setup or something similar. Theyre usually full of crazy ads some of which could have malware. With ads blocked ive never had issues though.

Advanced

Music: Many people use spotify. If you do I recommend not buying premium, and instead using SpotXBash. Or the windows alternative. This one works for Linux and Mac. You run the script, and your spotify is ad free. It does require terminal usage, and theres always the risk your spotify account gets banned if they detect it. It’ll need re running every now and then as updates can mess it up. I’ve never been banned but if your worried about it make a new account for it. https://github.com/SpotX-Official/SpotX-Bash

Now you may be thinking, like I did, “I wish I didn’t have to stream my music. Just let me download it.”

Thats where spotdl comes in. https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader

Theres a tutorial on getting it setup on the github. Once its ready its pretty simple you make a playlist on your newly ad free spotify, run the command spotdl with the link to it, and itll grab all the songs off youtube if theyre available. Quick and easy music piracy. Not perfect as sometimes you get music video versions but its pretty good.

I’ve downloaded hundreds of songs this way, and its nice to have when you don’t have internet, and the powers out or something.

Also if you don’t want to use youtube at all due to privacy reasons now we have a more advanced option for you. FreeTube. Its an app that works on all OS’s as far as I have seen even mobile, and works as a youtube frontend. You can even use invidious as the way to get videos for even more privacy. https://freetubeapp.io/

Torrenting

Ok if you’ve been following along this far its time to take a breather. Depending on where you are, and who your ISP is this part can be pretty risky. You might get letters in the mail, might get fined, could even get sued in some places.

That being said I can show you how to do it safely.

First we are going to buy something. Mullvad VPN. Its the only VPN id recommend getting. It is 5.50$ or so a month, and if you cancel your streaming accounts it’ll pay for itself now that you’ll be pirating stuff with it.

Once youve bought and setup Mullvad we can continue. Go here: https://mullvad.net/en/check

Its going to check that the VPN is working correctly. You should see 3 green boxes that say Using Mullvad, No DNS leaks, No WebRTC leaks. If you have that go into Mullvads settings. Under VPN settings Kill Switch, and Lockdown Mode should be turned ON. This will prevent your computer from connecting to the internet with anything but the VPN.

Now we are gong to get qBitTorrent. This is our torrenting client. Your gonna install it, click settings, advanced, and look for “Network Interface.” There will be a drop down menu. Click it and select the mullvad option. Mine is “wg0-mullvad” then click apply.

Your now ready to torrent and cannot be tracked by the other leechers or seeders. So you wont get those DMCA letters.

Now where do we find things to torrent? That wiki I linked earlier has some stuff. For games https://fitgirl-repacks.site/ is a great option. She recently repacked The Last of Us Part II remastered.

You’ll copy the magnet link, put that into Qbittorrent, and let it do its thing. Once its done you’ll pause the torrent. Assuming you don’t want to keep seeding it for other people downloading. Then open up the files and it’ll be an easy installer.

So to recap. You should no longer be seeing ads online, no longer be paying for stupid streaming services, and be getting lots of music, and games for free. Plus you get the added bonus of making liberals and capitalists mad by not giving them your money. If your well off take the money you saved and do mutual aid, if your poor like me and couldn’t afford this stuff anyway, enjoy!

P.S. If you are worried about not supporting certain independent creators and stuff while doing this keep in mind direct donations are still an option for pretty much everything. Most youtubers have a patreon or something for example.

Corporation simps when they find out you arent giving Disney all your money:

I have spent a long time trying to figure out why Steam DRM games work fine with wine but not with Proton and umu-launcher. This has bothered me to no end because Lutris is increasingly leaning on Proton and umu-launcher instead of normal wine.

Steam's DRM is minimal and easy to circumvent. I imagine this is intentional. Normally I would just replace the Steam related DLL files in a game with their counterpart from goldberg emulator or gbe_fork and the game would run fine with wine. With Proton however it wouldn't run. From reading the logs it was clear to me that this was related to Steam but I wasn't sure how exactly. At first I thought that because Proton comes complete with Steam's runtime, maybe some Steam DLL file was taking preference over the game's but this is was incorrect.

I have spent so much time trying to understand what the fuck was going on. Even tried reading some brain melting C source code but to no avail. Eventually I found the answer here:

Doesn't Proton does a lot of fuckery to basically bridge all steam call to linux side? I never used it, so my knowledge about that is limited. From a quick look at code, it hijack dll loading code and could be disabled by setting PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT 1. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/wine/blob/488fb296dda334a1e8555a9dd8f5cbe09be2afe5/dlls/ntdll/loader.c#L2294

This fixed the problem. Using the env variable PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT=1 allows me run pirated Steam DRM protected game. This is crazy because if you Google "PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT" there are zero hits for it. Thankfully a gbe_fork contributor was able to divine a solution by looking at source code of Valve's wine fork. So I wanted to document this.

Of course this is not the only solution. You can also use Steamless to rip out Steam's DRM entirely from the game's exe but I prefer using goldberg or gbe_fork because it is easier to do.

  • Tracker's Name: BTSchool
  • Link: https://pt.btschool.club/
  • Description: A Chinese General tracker, has English and Chinese content, new torrents have 5-days freeleech. New users have a newbie task (not very difficult): within one month, they must seed for a certain period of time and achieve a specified amount of upload and download traffic (e.g., 50GB).
  • Registered Users: 41K
  • Torrent: 172K
  • Seeding Peers: 1.8M
  • Total Size of Torrents: 6PB

Should remain open for 8 or so hours more after the submission of the post.

There is that particular Chinese TV show that I always wanted to watch which I will now be able to download. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to fulfill their newbie requirements so I will be kicked out eventually but hopefully I get that show before that.

ROMs Thread (lemmygrad.ml)

I didn't know we had a community for piracy. I made a comment on Hexbear with some links to safely download ROMs, so I thought that it was a good idea to make a post here now that I found this comm.

For general emulation:

Emulation General Wiki is the best place to know what emulators are there for each system and which ones are recommended to use. It also have links to BIOS files that these emulators might need.

For the ROMs:

GitHub hosted page from r/roms megathread is great and have a lot of stuff, it is the most complete aggregator and has basically anything you might want. By default it links you to Myrient, which you can also just access directly, but the r-roms site also provide other sources, like collections hosted in the Internet Archive, NoPayStation and hShop, translated ROMs and BIOS files for emulators. If you need/want one single place for everything, this is the closest you'll get, I highly recommend it.

Archive.org's page of ROMs verified to work with RetroAchievements. If you’re lost and don’t know how to access or download the ROMs, just click the show all button on the right. You’ll probably need an account to download anything tho.

Myrient probably have the biggest collection of games archived. It should be your default go-to for your ROMs needs. Highly recommended.

And Since navigating Myrient can be a bit tiring, you can use this search engine made specifically for it. Here's the source code.

Vimm’s Lair have a lot of games, but downloads are slow. It also has recently dealt with a multitude of DMCA strikes, so a lot of stuff might be missing, still, it's a great preservation effort and an option to safely download ROMs.

NoPayStation for PSP, PSVITA and PS3 games, updates and DLC. It downloads content directly from Sony’s CDN. While I linked the browse page by default, if you go to the home page, you can also find links to install it directly to your consoles if you want.

hShop for 3DS games, updates and DLC. In the home page linked you can also find a link to install it directly into your console if you want.

WiiUDownloader for Wii U games, updates and DLC. It downloads content directly from Nintendo’s CDN.

NXBrew for Switch games. I’m not a big fan of this site, but it’s the best one I found. I just suggest you use uBlock Origin and ViolentMonkey with this script and it should be mostly safe.

That’s basically it. I have been downloading a bunch of ROMs lately and that’s basically all I have gathered so far. I've also heard of CDRomance, but I never used it before, so I can't tell how safe it is.

Storage and compression:

One problem you may encounter is storage space for all your ROMs. This usually becomes a problem with PS3, Xbox 360 and Switch games since these games tend to be various gigabyte in size. And the worst part is that you can’t really compress these games right now, the only solution is to buy more storage, unfortunately.

For other systems tho, you can usually compress .cue and .iso files into .chd files and most emulators will work with it. I highly recommend this post on the RetroGameCorps website (it also covers most systems below).

Gamecube and Wii games can be compressed into .rvz files inside Dolphin emulator, just right click on the game and click on convert.

Wii U games can be converted to .wua files inside Cemu emulator. This is specially handy because instead of having a bunch of folders and files, it's a single file for the entire game like any .iso file, with the advantage of also including updates and DLC directly in the same file.

Finally, there’s DS and 3DS games where you can’t compress it, but you can trim the ROMs since it usually contain a lot of garbage data that is useless for running the game, just don’t use it on any ROM Hacks because it might make them stop working. This is the program I use to trim the ROMs. If you're on Linux like me, it works fine on Wine, I personally just have it set up in Bottles.

All public torrents I have found are dead. Anyone knows a place where I can find this movie in decent quality? (At least 1080p.) Thanks.

Not posting links since I am on a phone but recently Nintendo of America filed a suit against Tropic Haze LLC, the LLC behind said emulators. Yesterday, Tropic Haze settled with Nintendo. They are to pay $2.4 million in damages and have to stop distributing (and maybe working on) Yuzu. Yuzu and Citra git repositories are gone from GitHub.

The tactic used by Nintendo was targeting the monetisation practices by the devs. They had a Patreon with paywalled early access builds. So the "emulation is legal" argument was irrelevant here. They also mention how Yuzu was used to play the leaked ROM of Tears of the Kingdom, the latest overhyped Zelda game.

It is a bit sad we won't be able to play overhyped Nintendo console exclusives anyone through Yuzu. There is still Ryujinx but from my experience it is more resource heavy. Also I don't know about its future. I tried finding if its devs commented on this news but have not come across anything like that so far.

Right now I'm looking forward to watching two movies: "The Boy and the Heron" and "Godzilla Minus One"

Neither is on streaming services or BluRay yet. Which means that good quality torrents (IMO at least web-rip) are not available yet.

Is there a good way of figuring out when a decent torrent is available? I don't mean setting up some service like sonarr/radarr because those seem overkill (though my mind on this can be changed with a persuasive argument). Rather maybe some website I can check? Thanks.

DDoS secrets responsible for hosting leaks such as EpikFail and BlueLeaks will stop its activities, I would like help from anyone who has space left so we can download everything and keep seeding.
