Dungeons & Diagnoses — a fantasy therapy sim where your patients are cursed heroes, dark lords, and burned-out adventurers. Hey everyone! I just released my first indie game and wanted to share it here. The premise: you’re the kingdom’s only psychotherapist. Patients arrive convinced they’re cursed, haunted, or marked by fate. Your job is to listen carefully, spot contradictions, and figure out what’s actually going on beneath all the fantasy drama. A guard paralyzed by fear calls it a curse. A rogue on a self-destructive spiral blames a hex. A hero who can’t stop taking on impossible quests says it’s prophecy. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t. Gameplay:

Branching dialogue to gather symptoms A handbook system to compare diagnoses Drag-and-drop prescriptions Multiple outcomes — wrong diagnosis can ruin lives or unleash chaos

It blends dark humor with genuinely emotional storytelling in a cozy medieval setting. Made in Godot, free to download (name your own price), still in early development. 🌍 The game is available in 8 languages: English, Ukrainian, German, French, Portuguese, Czech, Simplified Chinese, and Russian — so hopefully most of you can play it in your native language. ⚠️ Transparency note: the game's visuals are currently AI-generated. The text was written by me in my native language and translated with AI assistance. This is a solo early-access project and replacing the visuals with hand-drawn art is part of the long-term plan. Feedback is very welcome — especially on writing, pacing, and whether the diagnoses feel fair. 👉 https://sontayo.itch.io/dungeons-diagnoses

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I've spent more time hunting for my next game than actually playing. I'm frustrated with recommenders that just push popular titles, ignoring what makes my taste unique.

That's why I've been building Gamescovery (games discovery!).

What is it?

Gamescovery is a new recommendation system designed specifically for games. The goal is simple: use your ratings from the games you've played to find hidden gems and perfect matches you'd otherwise miss.

Why it's different:

  • It's not a generic engine. It's being built from the ground up to understand what you love about games.
  • Future updates will let you fine-tune recommendations based on what matters most to you (genre, mood, developer, etc.).
  • We start by focusing on the incredible world of itch.io indie games to help you uncover amazing projects that big algorithms overlook.

This is where you come in.

The alpha is now live, and it's very much an early build. I'm not a big company, I'm a solo developer who wants to build something the community actually finds useful. That's why your feedback is crucial.

As an alpha tester, you'll get:

  • Early access to a tool designed to beat the "recommendation paradox."
  • A direct line to the developer to shape project's future.
  • The chance to help build a non-biased, community-driven platform.

Ready to try it out?

👉 Sign up for the alpha and start getting recommendations here: https://gamescovery.com/

Want to chat, suggest features, or report bugs? 🎮 Join our Discord community: https://discord.gg/brr7aYezMc

This project has and will always have a free tier. The dream is to support all major platforms, but we're starting with itch.io to prove the concept.

Thanks for your time, and I'm excited to hear what you think!

I am very happy to announce the full release of the

libre-open-source textbased, sandbox-style, storydriven, retro-style cyberpunk network-sandbox (more than a) game

Jailbreak Katana

here, today exclusively on LEMMY.

Let me first thank you, because lemmy is indeed a healthy project. The people were helpful and friendly here. The mods did their job and the overall experience is very good.

Then, let me thank all the open source projects that made this Masterpiece possible. There are too many to name them all, so - just check the dependency list of the project.

I am also speaking in the name of the artists behind this project, which you can discover on your journey throuh the ITP-network (~ the game world) - we are all very proud to be here with you today.

Yes, this is a historical moment: and like always, when a new era of art has begun, it is a moment of silence - not a big event ...

anyway - enough of the chit chat ... GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN!

edit: due naming issues the repo has been moved to: https://codeberg.org/ennix/hypercore

sorry for the inconvenience

Hi there, i am now a retro indie game developer for a long time (>15 years). Beside other things i developed a real-time browser game, a card game and more. I did it all without a contracts to publishers (which is pretty hard - and naturally without any monetary payoff).

For the last 6 years i worked on a fully libre-open-source textbased, sandbox-style, storydriven, retro-style cyberpunk network-sandbox game.

The game is text-based, so... there is no much to show, but i post a screeny below(https://retrolemmy.com/pictrs/image/c6442b29-988d-432f-8a9b-91706540aea5.png)

The game is ready for deployment and a real gem (i am very proud of it!). It just depends linux and some super-basic command-line tools.

It is 100% libre-open-source and very cleanly written and it has a tranparent build-system (means: the user builds an chroot-app on his/her computer) - which makes as safe, as your system. It runs in a isolated cgroup-enviroment via bwrap. It should build on any linux distro and run "on a toaster" (sbc is enough)

To host this, a git repo would be the best solution. (A static html-page would be enough for that - check the style of the suckless static git-pages: https://git.suckless.org/dmenu/log.html)

BUT... i have no phone (and i don't intend to get one) -> it looks like, that it is impossible to host a git repo without a phone.

I am searching for a hosting solution, without the need to have a phone.

Or better: I search for a partner that would host this project with me. The project itselft is (naturally) free of charge and libre-open-source. Could be part of a git-page-presence or a simple static html-subdomain.

I really think that this is a really cool underdog indie game which will bring some prestige to the hosting partner.

Pls. tell me your thoughts and suggestions.

PM me if you have interest in a cooperation.

thx in advance

edit: SOLVED (thx to /u/smeg@feddit.uk)

I’ve been looking at this project for a while and I hope it’s released soon. I also hope they consider bringing the game to consoles too so I can play in handheld too

Are you guys looking forward to this game?

-I launched it a year ago. I can’t continue yet, but I will at the beginning of the year; I’m dusting it off for anyone who wants to try it and give their opinion. The mod currently only has its “week 1” as part of the main story; the other “weeks” are just extras based on events or mini-stories from Obmyoji, they are not part of the main plot.

-It is based on the lore of a popular Asian game, “Onmyoji,” which tells the story of an Onmyoji, a Japanese spiritual wizard who, on his journey to defeat Orochi, forms yokai allies—beings from Japanese mythology—to restore balance and peace between humans and yokai.

Hello, fellow Playdaters! I'm Morgan, from Random Encounter Studios and my brother and I just finished developing our first playdate game. Fell in love with the device a year ago and decided to make a full fledged game on it.

It's a modern twist on arcade classics shmups, lots of actions, level ups, perks and coins! The game is about 6-8 hours length, hope you'll love it.

I'm happy to announce that ARMADA is now out on playdate, available on https://random-encounter-games.itch.io/armada (not sure if I can link something in the post but hey, i'll try)

Feel free to ask me anything about the game/studio/playdate, will be more than happy to answer!

It's by a small team of indie devs from germany. I had the chance to attend a talk by the devs about its development and it looks really cool :D It's like only 6€ as well atm

There's a free demo, so please give it a try!

ADACA is a half-like. I'm seven hours into it and everything about it is just perfect. I love the low poly art style, the story and the world are pretty interesting, the guns are all great, combat is very satisfying, you have a gravity arm with a crazy amount of range, it's just an incredible game.

If you are a fan of 2000s first person shooter games you have got to play ADACA. I used to think boomer shooters were better but I get it now, we need more shooters like this.

(I am an author of this game. I am not a shill, game is 100% free, there is no premium content, full game is avalaible without paying - this is work of passion and feedback is my main motivation).

"Dominion of Darkness” is a strateg/RPG text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister plots. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new.

Game is avalaible for free, online: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dominion

I am constantly improving the game, adding new content and mechanics, so Your feedback would matter.

If you are hesitant to play the game, I invite you to watch/listen to the reviews:

Anybody playing this game? I got it a while back on Steam and can't believe I've been sleeping on it. It's oddly relaxing and fast paced at times; requires thought but also is mentally relaxing. 9/10 great fun game that allows exploring without hand holding

A great game, and a massive patch list. Could be good fun for a returning player, or new players.

For those that haven't tried this game, it's very addictive and very fun. I've got 150+ hours on it, and I'm not done yet. Good fun as multiplayer too!

22

Give it a try if you like challenging, but fair platform games with a fairly unique mechanic.

The game probably needs no introduction, but hey, a story generator sim colony type game.

Bizarre and lots of fun. Whether it's getting attacked by pirates, or angry rats, fighting infections or drug addictions to save your colonists. I feel a little part of me dies every time I lose a colonist. Intense.

I'm 83 hours in, and barely getting started. It's wonderful.

Have you played RimWorld? How long for? Any interesting stories? (the steam reviews are a gold mine for this)

24

Absolute bargain price if you ask me. Played over 250 hours of Valheim. A great immersive game, and at this price, a bit too good to say no to if you haven't tried it.

Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this game, and the music always makes me smile. The main tune is one of the best game songs I know :).

To oversimplify, it's Theme Hospital for adults. Complex, serious, and some times stressful when you have a collapsed patient. I end up favouriting my collapsed patients as I really need to know they get better and make it out ok.

I have 70+ hours play time from this. Really well made game. Needs more love.

Have you played it? What did you think?
