The short version, received through newsletter:
https://files.mastodon.social/media/_attachments/files/116/421/180/564/325/119/original/2a0f2bd89941c38c.png

Previously, it seemed as relevant as Discord Nitro, so imo it's good they give something more tangible and preservable/not as easy to nuke with a few clicks. Plus not as dependent of Discord. =D

Also, in the full update, they mention "growing and nurturing the community", and though they say "with a particular emphasis on GOG Patrons", considering how stale the forum can be, I wonder if they'd be considering some form of fediverse integration too.

Verdammter Kaufrausch. 😜

Bei @gog gab es heute alle Teile von Die Siedler im Supersonderangebot. Und ja, natürlich habe ich meine Retrogaming Bibliothek gleich erweitert.

As I would like to see GOG officially joining the Fediverse, I have created a feature-wish entry on their website: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/join_the_fediverse

If you find it a good idea, maybe you can support the entry. Thank you and keep enjoying your DRM-free gaming :)

Hi everyone!

Due to my Playstation 4 version of Wolfenstein the New Order being now only in german after an update, I sold the game and bought it again to replay it on my Steam Deck through Heroic.

I'm enjoying the game as everything works perfectly except that I'm getting no achievements even if my playtime is synchronized to GOG.

Apparently, even on Windows people are having this problem: https://www.gog.com/forum/wolfenstein_series/new_order_achievements_broken/?search=achievements

So in hope of an Idea, I'm turning to Lemmy even if I don't have much hope. Apparently downgrading the version of the game could help, but I can't get a confirmation if it would mean starting from scratch again or not.

I'm running the 1.0.0.2 hotfix version of the game.

Edit: downgrading to 1.0.0.2 through Heroic worked

If I had to take a guess, they first released some smaller FFs (in comparison) to avoid turning their data center into an atompunk setting. e.e"

Der Soundtrack dazu ist übrigens auch richtig klasse.

So I have a GOG acc been a few years and unsubscribing was the first thing I did and they never bothered me, and out of nowhere the other day I received some newsletter about promotions and shit (not even stuff on my Wishlist) and I figured it's some reset with new ownership or whatever, I received an email about new policies a few days prior talking about how they are not connected to CDPR anymore and so... anyway, I unsubscribed, and made sure every notification was turned off, and just now I received another newsletter email...

Now i am someone whos a Huge Fan of DRM Free Gaming (well im in GOG Community go figure :P) and basically what i was always wondering as as to why DRM seems to be so popular still among Gamers considering StarForce and such? >.>

DRM Free Gaming is probably mostly a Thing that probably comes into Old Gamers Minds more than newer ones considering that StarForce and SafeDisc are more or less RetroDRMs that i doubt many Newer Gamers cant phatom really? >.>

But what surprises me the most is that the Voice arent "louder" for even just removing Basic Denuvo after 6 Months off Steam or so >.>
Like for me itd be honestly fine to make a Trade off them just having Denuvo on a New Release for 6 - 12 Months and then removing it honestly as itd love to buy Games such as the Persona Games instead of having to emulate them honestly :P
Where i was wondering as to Why is GOG not the most Popular Gaming Platform?

Maybe it'd interesting to ask them about enabling either/both functions?

They're already part of the fediverse to some extent through Bluesky, so it doesn't seem too far fetched for them to be more open about implementing such functions. And with the leadership change, maybe even doing something in a timely manner would be in the realm of possibility.

~~Probably will make a post myself which I'll be linking here.~~

Konnte wieder mal nicht widerstehen. #StreetsofRage4 ist derzeit bei @gog im Angebot. Und ja, natürlich habe ich es gekauft. Retro Prügeln vom Feinsten. :retroplaystation:

Und ja, läuft auch nativ unter Linux.

Out of many games, Final Fantasy titles were the least of my expectations to see on GOG. If you know Square Enix, you surely understand.

Anyway, this is a great day for DRM-free. 4 of the FF titles are finally here. Hopefully these are baby steps from Square Enix.

Bonjour @gog can you explain why games that are over 10 years old are still priced at their original release price? I don't understand this “sale” principle when a gradual price reduction over time would make pricing easier to understand.
FR:

The questions are so weird... And they repeat themselves.
"I feel I have a close relationship with GOG." followed by "I feel that I am personally connected to GOG. "

"GOG changes how it treats me" ... ??

Are they really asking for 25mn of my time for a survey badly made with AI?

Hi everyone!

I have a few questions related to GOG.

Achievements:

Apparently they should work with Heroic through Comet. If I launch a GOG game in gaming mode as a non-steam game would it work as long as the checkbox about comet in Heroic is activated? Or do I have anything to do such as what’s decribed here https://github.com/imLinguin/comet/wiki/Usage or there https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1bursla/gog_achievements_with_comet_now_easier_usable/ ? The explanations are a bit complex for me and contradictory.

Downloads:

Is there a way to download a GOG game in the background while playing a Steam game in gaming mode?

I really want to support GOG and these features are important. Of course I know that the Steam Deck is subsidized by Valve and that we can’t have everything, but I hope GOG will be more Linux friendly in the future.

Thanks a lot.

Terraria is on sale and i thought i'd buy a copy for my kid brother. But then i thought i should actually read the user agreement and privacy policy before i tell him to make an account. Turns out people younger than 16 can't own accounts, and i can't just buy a copy for him on my account because i'm already going to buy a copy for my account (i currently have the Steam version but want the game sans DRM).

So if i want to get him this game, should i make an account in his name but keep control of it until he's older? Is there some better legal option here?

I'd like to play Oneshot but it's not on GOG. I went looking to see if anyone had said why not and I found a post from the Oneshot dev GIR saying he submitted the game to GOG.

I'm curious about what happened. I'd love to see Oneshot come to GOG.
