Very much this. In the last few years, a lot of the youtubers I follow have moved from 20 minute-ish videos to 50 minute-ish videos, and I don't like it; most of the time the video could be a lot shorter. The worst perpetrators will have 1 hour videos where half of the content is rehashed from older videos, and after each new video follows a week of daily shorts from said video.

The thumb on the left is pointing the wrong way for this.

Finished "a death in Cornwall" by Daniel Silva, and now a little over half way through "an inside job", the next and latest book in this series. While I think the previous was a decent enough book, it left me with the feeling that the author was tip-toeing around the whole Israel situation where the series was heavily Israel centered in the earlier books (and deliberately pointing at a different country in the process). The not adressing of the current state of affairs in Israel goes on in the latest book unfortunately. Also, the plot twists are too predictable,

They could be a day apart in a leap year!

Thanks, I didn't need to know that.

Plot twist: Mr Web Dev is also in charge of the mailserver of this small company, and was the only one to actually see the invitation. The rest was misteriously undelivered. (source: stolen from a previous time I saw this meme)

Nice map, but if I remember it correctly, housing prices in 2019 were the same as in 2008 before the crisis. Houses are still too expensive here in the Netherlands, but this reeks of cherry picking.

I like your thinking, but he's never going to be tried in the Hague. The US has made clear it will invade the Netherlands if a US citizen is going on trial here, and besides, he's either mentally unfit or he won't live that long.

Definitely not a heart.

I've read the "1/3 couldn't be bothered" sentence about 10 times last week, from different posters. So, no change coming I guess, just vote "not Trump"?

When the Germans invaded my country in 1940, someone in the street I currently live in was standing behind the window, looking at the approaching soldiers. (I live real close to the border). The Germans, upon seeing him, shot him and he died right there. There's no memorial, no history book where this guy is mentioned. I only know about this through oral history, my grandfather told my dad and he told me. History is always about the leaders and the armies, never about the civilians.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who passed away peacefully last night following a long and courageous battle in intensive care after a complex major operation. Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud and loving grandfather, known affectionately as “Bampi.” He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed immensely. His legacy, music and the memories he created with so many will live on forever. We kindly ask that our family’s privacy is respected during this incredibly difficult time.

So, in the last ten days I've been reading the "dumb luck and dead heroes" series by Skyler Ramirez. I stumbled onto this series on Goodreads, probably in the "also enjoyed" section for another book.

Initially, I tought the books were ok, but reading them, I found the storyline going in some strange directions. I also find it strange that there is hardly any character development in the books. I dug into it a little deeper, and found that all of these books have been published in the last two and a half years, together with some other books 14 in total.

So, digging a bit further into his profile on Goodreads; He's currently reading his own books, books by an author named A.B. Franklin who just published his first book, and an author named Jack Bodett who has published six books this year. A.B. Franklin is returning the favor and reading Skyler Ramirez' books.

All in all, this makes me guess that these writers make extensive use of LLM's while writing these books. I googled Ramirez' name, and found his website. Visiting the website only confirms the feeling that it's all LLM and AI imaging.

Any toughts on the subject?

The toilet seat in the bathroom upstairs has two part hinges, where you mount two pins on the toilet and snap the seat and lid on. Something broke in the snapping part this week. Fixed it by removing some plastic from the clamping mechanism, put some epoxy putty in there and around the pins, then placed the seat back. It's still on there today, so it worked I guess.
