When I was young I heard the phrase "time marches inexorably forward" and I always thought it was one of those really cool phrases everyone knew from some philosopher or like from Shakespeare or some highbrow source of wisdom or wit.

Recently I looked it up, and I can't for the life of me figure out where it came from, or why I thought it was one of those ubiquitous things everyone had heard before. It was probably actually from some X-Men cartoon or something silly but I'll never figure it out.

I wish I could go back in time and figure out where I heard that phrase with that specific wording but, you know what they say....

That dogs name is Red XIII. When I was little I didn't know how roman numerals had X for ten. But I still knew how to read the III, probabaly from the game title itself containing VII.

So for all of my childhood in my household we confidently spoke about that dog out loud as "Red X the Third"

Usually the epiphany includes the second syllable as: Lucas > Luke S.

That novel also does a shout-out to Richard Dawkins despite being set in the distant future because it was written in 2006.

Its hilarious seeing the same "absolutely insane" tag that I have used.

I don't know enough about Shinzo Abe to know if death-by-doohickey is the same type of cosmic poetry or if this person is just ranking it high for the other obvious reasons (such as the doohickey).

Yeah these people are ignoring the part where Jesus said give away all your belongings unless you think you should keep them because you've had them for a long time.

The background lore of the TV show Severance is gonna create a new rise of ether used as a recreational drug in a sort of "do not build the torment nexus" way.

To be perfectly fair, saying "there's nothing else to say" is a way stronger example of a thought terminating exercise. Yet here we both are.

I think your untreated trauma is negatively affecting how you treat the people around you.

In 2000, The Thirteenth Floor was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film but lost to The Matrix.

Yeah that's a pretty good sell. I'll check it out.
