I’ve been around that long and longer.

For very small values of “famous”.

Q: What do you do with an elephant with three balls?
A: Walk him and pitch to the geraffe!

Didn’t need to click, but I did anyway.

I was 10 when this aired. I used to watch Soul Train after Saturday morning cartoons.

On which axis?

[–] thenextguy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sure. But this topic is about Faster Charging and Megawatt chargers. Most people don't need this.

And the current charging infrastructure can handle this quite well.

The word plastic in this case does not mean that actual plastic was inserted or injected. And it is not always cosmetic either. It only means that the shape or form was modified or reconstructed.

Thing that no one could have predicted inevitability happens.

One of the ends of the handle came loose.

It’s not loose anymore.

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but it took me far too long to figure out. So posting in case it helps others.

Old trek dual sport with 8 speed Shimano Acera would skip one gear near the middle of the range, and be very noisy on those cogs.

I assumed I had a bent hanger… nope. Tried numerous other things to figure out what I had done to cause this.

Turned out to be the shift cable was attached on the wrong side of the cable clamp post, causing too sharp an angle for the cable and ever so slightly changing the pull ratio.

The only way I figured it out was that I remembered some obscure web page that talked about doing this on purpose as a hack to get incompatible shifter and derailleur to work together.

HTH someone.

After seeing biltzen’s post, i figured I’d share mine.

Not much ‘mod’ here. Tried to keep things near the same period. I’m the sole owner of this bike. It sat in my garage for 20+ years until one day the bug bit me and I just started working on it.

The biggest change was to have it powder coated. I never liked the original paint much. Had the logos recreated as water slide decals. Kept the original headset badge.

I drilled and rivnutted the bottle cage mounts. That was a bit scary.

At one point i had put indexed shifters(brifters) on it, but went back to friction. It just fits better.

I’ve seen some expensive looking setups in the background of some yt videos. But I threw this together with a pack of S-hooks and 2 wire baskets from Amazon.

FWIW - This was the inspiration, but wayy too expensive for a wooden dowel and some printed plastic parts, imo. https://tons.bike/en-us/collections/tons-gear-racks

There's a toilet paper ad where they claim they were voted number one product of the year.

Shouldn't they prefer to be number two?
