This, plus parents and teachers yelling at me for getting frustrated so early in the process. As a kid I was literally told I was "stupid and selfish" for expecting to quickly become good at something (jumping rope). At the same time as I was told I was "mentally r***ed" for not learning other things quickly enough (algebra).

I love fresh radishes. I've often been called a weirdo for that. But they're so... edible. Colorful, crunchy, flavorful. Even the spicy ones are good in a wasabi-spicy kind of way, excellent for clearing your nose!

This might be a long shot but have you tried fresh (as in not frozen) whole blueberries in a bowl of milk? It's one of those things that sounds super weird until you try it. I have no idea how it happens, but the milk brings out a great sweet flavor from the bloobs. And as you eat it, that flavor gets concentrated, so the last few spoonfuls are the BEST.

I haven't seen this much wholesome, genuine passion on the intertubez in a very long time. Three cheers for Lemmy's very own Owl Ambassador! 🫑

We have an ethnic dish that's basically mushrooms and chicken meat simmered in a thick white sauce, with optional sour cream.

As a child, I gagged and retched every time my grandma was cooking it. The smell was indescribably awful to me, like if she were cooking rotting garbage. I could barely bring myself to taste it.

Now it's one of my favorite meals. I make it with any variety of Agaricus bisporus. Maybe it's because my grandma used different species of mushrooms? Who knows what was sold at farmer's markets in Eastern Europe in the 90s...

That's insulting to children. They run Model UN better than this.

We already do. It's all grey, greige, white, off-white. If feeling adventurous, add taupe accents and light wood. "Soothing" my ass, it all gives mental institute vibes.

Hear hear. Half my job is helping people and doing creative stuff, which I love. The other half is the most boring drudgery of paperwork I've ever had in my life. I've literally procrastinated all week on paperwork that is due today in less than 8 hours. Fml.

That looks more like spina bifida.

The formula starts with CH, which means the universe is organic.

I'm horrified to learn about the ICE raids in Maine. As they move further north with their indiscriminate grabbings, odds are increasing that they'll take a Canadian citizen. I'm especially worried for Campobello Island residents. How can we help our neighbours fight? Are there any grassroots organizations?
