I put my little blog behind Cloudflare because I was tired of it going down due to scrapers overwhelming my little VPS.

I tried. I was an activist for years. Donated money. Knocked on doors. But when you're battling willful ignorance, heartfelt bigotry, and an entrenched oligarchy, and everything only backslides against you... You eventually feel like you want to just live life and escape it.

I tried to make the US better for my kid, but it's unfixable in my opinion. So we moved to a better place.

Switch to a Fairphone with /e/os. Ethically sourced components, replaceable parts. Privacy focused OS. No built-in Google dependencies.

And the homescreen looks and behaves much like iOS.

It's what I'm using right now.

This is literally what the Panama Papers were about. Rich people and shell companies headquartered in Panama to dodge taxes.

If the penalty for criminal conduct is a fine, and the fine isn't sufficiently punitive to radically alter the company's conduct, then crime is just a cost of doing business.

Congresswoman from the Dallas area, yeah

The article is in Dutch. The city is reducing the speed on many city roadways from 50 km/hr to 30 km/hr, to increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians. The goal is to reduce traffic injuries and deaths by 20-30%.

As usual, carbrains on social media are complaining left and right. "Some ebikes are faster!"

Government policy and privatization of rail has reduced the quality of rail service. Meanwhile, government funds roads freely. Surprise, passenger vehicle numbers are growing.
