Yeah similar to me. I thought they were some no name one hit wonder with "harder, better, faster stronger" and only recently I realized they were very popular in the 90s already and "around the world" is from them, which is like the background music of my childhood memories.

It's probably very dependent of your current physical status but trust me at some point it will be like being on a machine moving you through the environment. You will stop feeling anything about it, much like walking, standing or sitting.

Just a short personal progress report after roughly one year going european:

Changes:

  • Google search -> ecosia
  • Gmail -> proton mail
  • Google drive -> proton drive
  • Google calendar -> family wall
  • Google photos -> zeitkapsl
  • Google authenticator -> aegis
  • Amazon -> kaufland marketplace
  • Reddit -> fediverse (lemmy)
  • Pixel (because it stopped working) -> fairphone
  • Paypal -> sepa/wero/klarna

Quit without alternative:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Disney+

Still using:

  • Netflix (want to finish "better caul saul")
  • Google maps (too convenient for searching restaurants and shops)
  • Steam

Of course I am also conscious about groceries or other material purchases.
