Corsica forgotten once again

[–] qcop@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago

Frankly I just use the website installed as a web app. I'm quite happy with it. I lost a bit on the ux of thread closing but I get access to the emoji picker from my instance which is invaluable.

Thanks! I finally finished the article. It was a really educating and in depth article. It helped me organize my thoughts about imperialism and forced me to better understand how dollarization is such a huge tool in the US empire arsenal.

Thanks I’ll read Nkrumah’s book and the article on Kim Jong Il thought. Prolewiki article was missing mentions of Luxemburg’s text however. If this is because her definition is considered incomplete or otherwise I’d at least would like to read criticism about it.

Hey, I'm currently trying to educate myself more on imperialism. Around here I’ve mostly been confronted to Lenin’s definition as it appears in his famous book "Imperialism, the Newest Stage of Capitalism". In other circles IRL, I’ve heard people refer to Luxemburg definition which appears in "The Accumulation of Capital: A Contribution to an Economic Explanation of Imperialism".

I’ve read both books and I’m still a bit lost. I can see points for both definitions. I can also see some divergences. For example using Lenin’s definition I cannot see how Russia could be seen as an imperialist country right now. However, with Luxemburg’s one I feel they could be included as an imperialist country. Of course in much lesser proportions as the hegemonic imperialism that that are the US.

I’m looking for modern resources that either actualize and synthetize both definitions or resources that debate this very subject (ie various marxist definitions of imperialism) so that I can get a better grip/understanding on it.

Never used pleroma, but poa.st is a neonazi/fascist instance. Their instance data was leaked a few years ago and just looking at the DMs leaked and the wordcloud it was even more vile than their usual racist posting.

I've been trying the Guild wars franchise for the first time and I'm having a blast. It's hitting all my nostalgia buttons of early 2000. I have no idea what I'm doing in the game, I dont understand the story I can't afford shit but I'm having à lot of fun

Yeah and we're not even talking about the people who are now sedentary (a majority) and hide their Romani identity due to "shame" or fear of discrimination in their lives.

This 100% accurate. Even the most mild mannered and kind people turn into full fascists when talking about Romani people. If you do not live in Europe you can't realize how pervasive it is.

Worse you can say and do the most heinous shit to them and it will never be seen as racism. If something happens to them everyone just assumes they deserved it anyway because they must have done something for it. And when their communities try to push back a bit and revolt against what they are inflicted, the state uses all tools at its disposal to repress them. Just a few days ago on reddit there was a post about farmers spraying shit on their camp in a field and everyone was cheering. Of course no mention was made that they were not a threat to anyone and that municipalities do not build spots for them to stay with their mobile house even though they are required to build them by law.

When I was a kid, I was repeatedly told not to trust or approach them, that they would steal everything in sight and scam me, that "it is how they are".

Fortunately some Romani organizations in French speaking countries are slowly getting some time to speak mostly in the decolonial and anti-racist movements. They do a lot for their communities and also take time to do some conferences to educate us leftists on their struggle.

Failed implies they tried which we all know did not happen. The goal was not to improve the material conditions of the population
