Stoat doesn't have the ball as rolling.

It's still up to stoat and fluxer to show they can deliver and attract discord users

Works on CachyOS 👌

Not because they should or because there are transparent legislative demand but because they want to be ripe for purchase as soon as they go public.

Seemingly, everyone are missing that Discord are very likely to go public soon https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-06/chat-platform-discord-is-said-to-file-confidentially-for-ipo.

My guess is they will announce going public themselves as soon as they have normalized their ID collection and age verification AI programme. Big papa Microsoft or the like will buy Discord and make it an evergreen AI data set training ground.

These are all looking like they are becoming good replacements. However, they will have to beat the challenge of adapting to the sudden high influx of users when none of them are fully ready:

Fluxer.app (Open Beta)

GaneVox (Open Beta)

Spacebar.chat (Open Beta)

Stoat (Open Beta)

I need to bring my casual friends and they will never install matrix. It is too alien too them with all this "instance/federation mumbo jumbo".

[–] orize@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm afraid Fluxer might snap and turn money chasers too. Buy until they do, I might try it.

There is also GameVox

CachyOS with KDE setting is less bold. But still bold for casuals.

Vivaldi is closed source "we pinky promise" proprietary software?

It's wrong. There are more variants to check out:

  • GameVox
  • Fluxer

"Beekeepers Tested Honey Using New DNA Technology, But Most Jars Contained Very Little Honey, Mostly Sugar and Other Sweeteners."

"The industry organization Beekeeping Entrepreneurs has tested 40 honey products available in Swedish grocery stores using new DNA technology. The results were disappointing: only four jars contained genuine honey produced in Sweden, while the remaining 36 imported jars mostly contained sugar and syrup.

Yngve Kihlberg, chairman of Beekeeping Entrepreneurs, expressed shock at the extent of the fraud, stating, 'We knew there were counterfeit products on the market, but we are shocked by the scale.' These products are found on the shelves of major grocery chains. According to the organization, the counterfeit honey primarily comes from China, where producers have learned to manipulate the products in a way that evades standard inspections, resulting in jars filled mostly with sugar products and very little honey.

Kihlberg added, 'Chinese counterfeit honey is flooding the market and tastes like honey. However, the consequences are detrimental to European beekeepers, and pollination in Europe is decreasing, which contributes to reduced biodiversity and lower domestic food supply.'

The Swedish Food Agency has acknowledged the DNA test results and considers it a serious issue. Maria Florin, head of the agency, stated, 'We want to combat fraud, but since the honey issue falls under the EU, we cannot take action.'

The EU requires that testing methods for products like honey be accredited by specific laboratories to ensure the tests are conducted correctly. Florin noted, 'The fake honey is not just a problem in Sweden but for beekeepers across the EU. The matter is with the EU Commission, and we do not know when a decision will be made. As long as the EU does not approve the tests, we do not have the right to remove the products from grocery store shelves.'

Swedish grocery retailers have contacted their honey suppliers, but the suppliers argue that according to the currently approved testing methods, the products are classified as honey, so they do not plan to change their inventory. Martin Andersson, responsible for trade policy at Swedish Grocery Retail, stated, 'We would like to change the current testing methods if they are not effective, but we must wait for the EU's decision on the accreditation of DNA tests.'"

I'm often left feeling stressed, frustrated, and exhausted by my partner.

Why?

Problem-Solving Difficulties She struggles to handle problems as they occur. For instance, when we get invited to social events, she needs a day or two to process it before she can give an answer, which can be pretty stressful for me and those who have to wait for a response. When a stressful situation arises, she absorbs the full impact and eventually breaks down. It frustrates me because there are many strategies one could use to step out or completely solve the situation. She has difficulty zooming out to see the bigger picture and connect the dots to solve important problems or prevent them from happening again. I often feel alone in this, and when I try to explain my perspective, she doesn't seem to listen or care enough to process it and improve how we handle things in the future.

Parenting Concerns: She quickly gives in to our 3-year-old's requests, especially when I'm not around. I worry this approach may lead to challenges for all of us later on, as it doesn't teach our child to cope with setbacks or understand reasonable boundaries. If I come home after running errands for a couple of hours, I sometimes discover she bent the rules and let our kid eat ice cream, only noodles for lunch, and candies?! What happened to only giving candy on special occasions, like birthdays or holidays, which we've both agreed is a good parenting strategy?

Physical Affection and Intimacy: We also struggle with physical affection due to her chronic eczema. When her condition is under control, we can be more physical, which is nice. But in truth, it’s not enough for me. I can't always spontaneously hug her because her condition can change daily, and I think her lifelong eczema has made her less touchy. While I cope well with this, I can feel touch-starved.

I hate to admit it, but I don't find her sexually interesting any longer. Her sex drive is low. When tensions rise between us, she might say, "I think sex will solve the surface tension, we should have sex soon." While she's right that being close physically is good, and I commend her for her wise idea, it's rare for her to initiate. When she does, her sexual charisma/energy is very low, which honestly turns me off. It feels like she expects me to get excited without her putting in any effort to build up the mood. I've tried to encourage her to take a more active role, but she never seems to put anything into practice or build experiences together with me.

She does not "serve herself" actively during sex. I don't think she wants to explore sex further. I have offered to go down on her, for her to go down on me, to explore our current/future kinks together, to be more rowdy about sex in general... but she never picks up or takes it further. She doesn't have any kinks. Although she acknowledges my kinks and we have become comfortable discussing them, I usually feel like a burden when I bring them up, so I have stopped. She says that massage and light touching feel better than sex, which may be true for her due to her eczema, but if that's the case, we clearly don't value sex in the same way.

Communication Issues: She often talks to me from across the apartment, assuming I can hear her perfectly. When I respond, she realizes we cannot hear each other, which stresses me out. Because now I have to "keep a tab open" to not neglect her (I have ADHD; this quickly becomes a painful act for me). I've asked her to adjust her voice so I can hear her better, but she refuses to do so and never corrects herself. Day in and day out. It's exhausting!

Her tone can come across as nagging and sharp, which feels directed at me. She insists it's just her tone and that others wouldn't react the way I do, but I disagree; I think they would react similarly.

I am curious, learning, and socializing. She doesn't really have an interest outside of work. She just wants to be comfortable. It feels like I am fluid and sudden as water, while she's rigid as a rock.

Household Management: When she tidies, she just picks stuff up from surfaces and crams it all together on shelves or in boxes/paper bags, leaving them mixed and out in the open. She never organizes. She never goes back to her mixed containers of random items to sort them out later either. She never makes places for things to be in/on. Am I the only one who sees the logic here? If there are no designated areas for things, they will be stuck in limbo?! We either put things back where they belong or throw/recycle. We don't keep things mixed together and out in ugly containers. And I am the one with diagnosed ADHD.

I am the one "who solves" things. Is an electric apparatus wonky? I am the one who has to fix it. Do we need something drilled in a wall? It has to be me. Do we need to find information about XYZ? I have to be the one deep-diving and attaining understanding.

THIS WAY OF LIVING IS EXHAUUUUUUSTING!

It has led me to want to be more comfortable and free. I now daydream about my own apartment by myself. Where she cannot bother me and I don't have to deal with seeing her handle things in ways I cannot deal with.

Now please bear in mind I haven't told you the good sides of our relationship. I have focused on what's bothering ME here. I want to hear your takes on what I've written. I am not looking to break up. But I just... don't know if I can keep living like this for decades after decades.

What would you do If you were me?

The U.S. is eyeing Greenland while Russia continues to carve up Ukraine. I believe the US will place soldiers on Greenland in an attempt to annex it. I think it will likely happen before Trump's term ends.

If (hopefully not when) the U.S. pressures Ukraine into accepting a bad deal with both Washington and Moscow for "peace", will they leverage that outcome—along with the Greenland situation—to further erode European sovereignty?

Europe cannot realistically fend off the US on Greenland? And certainly not while being pressured by both Russia and the US on different fronts? I am so fucking glad Europe got nukes.

It took finding six different psychologists over the span of six years, and countless sessions where I tried to explain how sudden my decision can be, how I always get distracted, how eccentric that makes me and how flappy my whole life is and has been, and all the underlying issues, until I finally met one who understood me and had expertise in the field.

Tomorrow, I will starting with a dose 18 mg of Concerta.

It really sucks it has to be this way. This really is true.

I now feel like I can put down my heavy armor, my sword and my shield.

I love it.

I am having fun inside mythic dungeons,

The raid bosses are chaotic. And I love how you get gibbed by Motorcycles riding around throughout the raid space lol! And the first boss drifted over me shredding me and only me into pieces before the whole raid I led haha!

And the naming puns are great! We have The Gobfather, The Gobman etc

Crosspost from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/38810596

Hi everybody! I just created Linux Crack Support (feel free to join). This guide is also freshly baked straight from the oven, still warm. It's a guide for how to add non-steam games (sourced from anywhere really) onto your Linux system. This means it also works for your Steam Deck, which is an awesome thing! So I am hereby cross posting this guide to help you all.

In the world of gaming on Linux, using tools like Steam with Proton and Lutris with Wine can significantly enhance your experience by allowing you to play Windows-exclusive games. However, sometimes games require specific dependencies to run smoothly. This guide will walk you through the process of adding games to both Steam and Lutris, as well as how to install the necessary dependencies using information from SteamDB.

Part 1: Adding Games to Steam with Proton

  1. Install Steam:

    • If you haven't already, download Steam from the Flatpak store, Discovery store. If that's not possible for you, try Steam website. Install, run, and log in.
  2. Get the Game:

    • To add and run the game on Steam, you need to have the game files ready. You are responsible for how you get the files. I prefer these two places:
  3. Add the Game:

    • Go to your "Library" and click on "Add a Game" at the bottom left.
    • Select "Add a Non-Steam Game".
    • Browse and select the game you want to add, or click "Browse" to find the .exe file for the game.

  4. Launch the Game with Proton:

    • Right-click on the game in your library and select "Properties".
    • Click "Compatibility" --> Tick the box for "Force use of a specific SteamPlay-compatibility tool".
    • Choose the latest Proton 9.X version from the list.
    • The game will now launch properly if it doesn't need a specific dependency. If it does, an error message will pop up telling you so.

Part 3: Installing Dependencies via SteamDB

So you've done all the steps above and now you've launched the game. But an error message comes up saying there are missing components required to run the game. Take note of what the message says. In my example below, we see the missing component is Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime. It is a common dependency often required by modern games.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime is also called VC Redist or by its install file name vcrun20XX.exe and there are a lot of different editions of VC Redist. To find out which one you need, do the following:

  1. Go to SteamDB:

    • Visit SteamDB and search for the game you want to install dependencies for.
  2. Navigate to the "Depots" Tab:

    • Click on the "Depots" tab to see a list of dependencies that the game uses.
  3. Identify Dependencies:

    • You took note of the "missing component" a.k.a. dependency you needed required by the game. It was Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime. And you now know it is also commonly known as VC Redist. Therefore, you are looking for something similar.
    • In the image below, the information we find that is matching what we are looking for is: VC 2022 Redist. Take note of this.

Part 4: Installing Dependencies with Protontricks

  1. Install Protontricks:

    • If you don't have Protontricks installed, you can install them via the Discovery Store:

  2. Run Protontricks/Winetricks:

    • Make sure to have run the game at least once with Proton compatibility (see Step 2 Part 4). This creates the necessary files and folders for Proton to manage the game. It is in those folders Protontricks will install the dependencies.
    • Choose the game you mean to install dependency for.

  3. Install Dependencies:

    • Choose Select the default wineprefix

    • Choose Install a Windows DLL or component

    • Search for and select the dependencies that match those you noted from SteamDB. You might need to scroll down a bit. In this case, we're looking for something vcrun2022.

After pressing okay, it might take some seconds to load up. There might also be a window popping up saying SHA256 mismatch. You can continue as the different IDs of the installers differ between the downloaded and expected. This is because Protontricks once was set to expect a different version of the installer. The current installer has since been updated.

    • Two installer windows will now pop up; Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 (x86) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 (x64) respectively. Install both.

    • You can now close/cancel your way out of Protontricks and try to launch the game. You will most likely not have to install more than one set of dependencies (but it may happen, rarely).

    • The game we've now downloaded, installed, and installed dependencies for now runs! Smooth as butter!

So I got into organic farming. I bought an expensive earth cutter and actually got to rent a farming plot - about 100 m2. All that was last year. I still have that farming plot but to keep it, I have to keep paying for it as well as actually be there and care for crops. I still want to do it but I just can't bring myself to do it? And WTF do I do with the earth cutter? I live in a flat in the city ROFL

I also recently got into game development. I actually dove right into the basics and actually began writing code and functions that work for game prototypes. As in not only did I first follow tutorials, but I made my own shit by just looking up documentation. I still want to do it, but... IDK, I just need a hook to go back but I just won't? And it saddens me, I really want to continue on some ideas I have but its too much.

GAAAH.

And I have a carpenter's work bench coming soon and all these projects I want to do. But WTF will I do.
