Just in case anyone hadn't heard this one before: Abcde is pronounced "Absidy", which is more of a real name.

I would like to think that they don't have that.

Did you not understand that I was talking about immigration? Which is one of the ways we solve that. All of that.

Besides which we're actually talking about keeping the population stable. A declining population is bad for everyone economically. Luckily population growth naturally slows down in modernized societies, which is why allowing people to immigrate is good for everyone.

The replacement rate is down to 1.56, meaning every couple is having, on average, 1.56 children in the United States. We need two or above to keep the population at the same amount.

There's actually another way to keep the population up, and it's great for America economically and culturally, and it makes the world a better place at the same time.

It's LLM-generated. I've seen this tweet discussed in a few different places now and I'm surprised I'm the only one pointing this out.

The spelling, grammar and sentence structure are too good for it to be Trump. It's too coherent and fact-based, but it's also too cohesive. It meanders like Trump, but then it gets back to the point. It's presenting a formulaic argument. That's something LLMs always do and Trump never does.

It's also loaded with em dashes. There is no possibility that Trump used an em dash on purpose.

Trump probably put the prompt into ChatGPT himself and then didn't bother to read it.

Military coups usually don't install a democracy.

Which AI? I asked Google AI about a webcomic, and it offered to find the artist for me. I said sure.

First it made something up completely out of thin air. Then it picked a random user who had commented on the comic. It had already identified the OC post of the comic, so all it had to do was check the username, and it couldn't even do that.

Exactly. The threads are not the point. The art is the point. Most of the comments were about what kind of asshole would remove attribution anyway.

It comes down to what we want this community to be. Is this just some third tier meme group, sharing the reposts of the reposts from other communities? Or is it a place that's respectful to artists, that could eventually be where content creators post their original stuff?

Some other things will have to go our way to make the latter happen, but it'll never happen if we're positioned for the former.

But if I'm understanding the situation correctly, I don't think beep is even banned. Which would make sense why the new mod is so reticent about nuking his content.

I'm all for second chances, but as long as a single beeped comic still exists in this community, he and every one of his alts needs to be banned. Anything less is hostile to artists and makes this a meme factory instead of a place to share and celebrate comics.

You guys are making me want to try karaoke again, which is not something I've ever felt before.

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Can you clarify something else for me? Is the offender in this case not being banned? Because he is way, way past third chances, and I don't think the community is ok with that.

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Ok, but you can just remove the vandalized comics. Otherwise they'll continue to do damage. Taking them down doesn't hurt anyone.

The efforts in the comment sections were towards this end - to try to stop the harm he was doing.

Fun Fox Fact: the word "geckering" refers to the laughter-like sound made by several mammals including hyenas and monkeys, but the word "gekkering" is used specifically to foxes.

I made this meme a few years ago and posted it to reddit. It immediately got gold and then barely any upvotes. I've always wanted to find a place to repost it, because it's a joke I'm proud of.

I think she likes it here because we don't seed grass, so there's lots of clover for her to munch on. I'm not sure where she sleeps, but some days she sits in the same spot all day.

She still runs from the kids sometimes, but I can walk just a few feet away from her and she'll just watch.

And I definitely didn't accidentally step on any crayons in the process.

See? Nobody cares.
