Thought this was a pretty cool art style for a magic card. Has a single-player arcade game feel to it :P

The Magic: The Gathering world lost one of its greatest players with the passing of Kai Budde. Known as "The German Juggernaut," Kai lived up to the nickname through his stunning record as a competitive Magic player. With five Pro Tour titles, two Team Pro Tour titles, seven Grand Prix wins, an incredible string of Top 8 appearances, a Magic World Championship win in 1999, a Team World Championship win in 2002, a Team Masters Series title in 2002, recognition as Player of the Year an unprecedented four times, and induction into the Pro Tour Hall of Fame in 2007, Kai's unrivaled accomplishments left a monumental mark on Magic that has inspired countless players.

This is a really interesting and informative video about how booster packs helped the game grow compared to their utility now in a much more mature game.

2026 ‘Forest’ secret lair promo card. My final of the ‘Lotus Lands’ and will be available next May 1-3 at the Las Vegas Magic Con.

It’s a happy/sad moment in my 30 year tour of duty with Wizards Of The Coast. It’s probably my last one. I don’t want to say never again, as that’s unknown, though I am now continuing to put my health first and ‘hitting my technical standard’ is still rather beyond my physical limitations! However maybe I can re-boot somehow one day. Pat and I intend to move house next year so will be a busy one and I am daily working on my own stuff, not at the computer, but drawing and developing projects that I’m passionate about. I want to say a huge thank you again to those who have supported my art. There are many many fine new illustrators out there and I am really ready to be more in the background. We will have various options in the new year to purchase products related to these.

Those huge signings were a blast and I’ll miss the interactions. Hope Christmas was good and Happy New Year from a sunny Sussex. J.

Arena Championship 10 is this weekend, December 20–21! In this premier event, 110 of MTG Arena's strongest competitors will battle for their share of a $250,000 prize pool, sixteen coveted Pro Tour qualifications, and two prestigious invitations to Magic World Championship 32. I'm half expecting to see a ton of Badgermole in Standard, but I also think the time right now is actually pretty ripe for innovation or something new shocking the tournament.

Regional Championship SCGCON Las Vegas just ended and congratulations to Nathan Goldberg who took down the event on Amulet Titan!
