It was a house fire. They won't grow back. Like my family.

I was in foster care. My mom was a druggie alcoholic.

Now, I have 5 kids: 2 girls, and 3 boys.

My oldest, a girl, needed my help. I gave her life advice her mom wouldn't. My second oldest - a girl - I helped transition. My third, I help him pick dresses and skirts, because he gets embarrassed around his mom. My fourth, we learned our own sign language when he was younger, as he was nonverbal autistic until he was 6. My fifth, his mom and I help him daily though leukemia.

I guess it would be better without me helping them.

Your an ass. Male role models can help, like female role models. My help is different from my wife's, but it in no way diminishes her contributions.

Same for my wife and me. Chicken with their tartar sauce.

Every meal is now declared "brunch"

I actually blocked her. Not because I was against her, but because I never knew when I would stumble on a post of hers when one is my kids were around.

She was an OG

Y'all take more than one bite to eat a pie?

Monday, I drove my wife and youngest to Omaha to adopt a puppy (golden retriever). We were going to eat at Chili's because at least it's a known food. Well, the person we were getting the dog from was available early, so we did drive through.

Fucking bullet dodged.

Your hot air?

I posted not because it's a "challenge", but because it was a funny way to show distaste for AI

When you see all the top start-ups are all "we do this, but AI", it's obvious we are in a bubble.

AI is buying billions on credit, backed by no equity.

I'm unemployed (thanks, AI), but I'm going to spend half of my savings on shorting the stock. go big, or file for bankruptcy.

A therapy that would once have been considered a feat of science fiction has reversed aggressive and incurable blood cancers in some patients, doctors report.

The treatment involves precisely editing the DNA in white blood cells to transform them into a cancer-fighting "living drug".

The first girl to be treated, whose story we reported in 2022, is still free of the disease and now plans to become a cancer scientist.

Now eight more children and two adults with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia have been treated, with almost two thirds (64%) of patients in remission.

..........and I'm so happy for him.

And scared.

When taking him from the front office to the breakfast line, he fell 3 times. His class was so happy to see him!

I guess I'm just ranting.

There are a ton of communities for people to talk about all the funny things. Not many for the serious parts of our lives.

My child was diagnosed with Leukemia a few months back. I've been looking for a place to vent, and possibly make connections with others who understand what it's like, so here we are.

edit: as @jet@hackertalks.com pointed out, I should have linked to the community.

Other social media platforms have a place for people to talk about cancer and support each other. Lemmy didn't, so I made one.

My youngest child has Leukemia (B-cell accute lymphoblastic leukemia)

It's fucking scary. I didn't know where to talk about it, so here we are.
