The final part of your comment has me questioning the possibility of female incel snakes.

A double ended dongle, you could say?

We cant get near that title, American police are significantly more fucked up.

There were 95 deaths directly caused by police in January 2026 alone in the US. There has been 1 in the UK this year so far, 2 if we state this as directly caused by police due to ineptitude.

In an ideal world we wouldn't have these incompetent fucks running society for the Epstein class, but I'd still take incompetent over bloodthirsty any day of the week.

As someone with over 200 hours in graveyard keeper, I have a tip for new players.

Make sure you buy the blue and white stone from the innkeeper, it's a rechargeable teleport item that allows you to instantly navigate most of the map every 30 seconds or so; the game will never tell you this, and i only bothered to get it long after it would have been of any use before I realised what it was. Hope this helps someone

As per my original comment, Every accusation is a confession; therefore Americans can only do Boston and Texan accents.

[–] javiwhite@feddit.uk 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The point is to appeal to people's empathy.

This ad is saying; 'Don't like kids getting blown up? Stop funding the company complicit in it.'

There's a growing trend here to do away with Americas tech in general tbh; AI is just the latest fad, so it gets a lot more attention. But people are boycotting far more than just openAI here.

There have been similar campaigns about Musk being a nazi for example, which for obvious reasons, is frowned upon here.

I have a suspicion that Americans are actually pronouncing bottle of water this way, because with the yanks every accusation is a confession.

@PieMePlenty@lemmy.world I should clarify that was me pulling the path from memory. So might not be 100% accurate but it explains how the path works with proton/wine when using steam.

Essentially WINE creates a windows styled directory, with all the core folders, and then the emulator uses this as it's root directory.

Documents is a great example. On Linux the document path is

/home/<USER>/Documents.

On windows it's

C:\users\<USER>\documents

If we use the default wine settings, the path for the wine documents folder on Linux is

/home/<USER>/.wine/drive_c/users/<USER>/documents

Any program running in wine will only see the files from drive_c and down, emulating how a windows environment would work.

Happy to answer any questions if that isn't clear. Feel free to DM.

That's really cool, and great to see. Thanks for sharing!

Oh definitely; and I don't think there is a great deal of users that would argue for the use of snap over flatpak either, so flatpak would be an ideal unified compatibility solution.

Not sure if I've seen a commercial game with a flatpak release; and given the open nature of flatpak, a company (ie: steam) could theoretically implement their own gatekept repository to manage purchases etc...

The main hurdle with adoption is native compatibility with steam; if they started hosting and supporting flatpak installs, the concept would likely stand a better chance. I suppose you could run the whole application sandboxed, which would theoretically sandbox every game installed; but canonical try that, and well... If you search snap steam, you'll see the issues that brings about.

Tbf the reality for like 90% of people gaming on Linux the path is something like

~/home/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/{game_id}/c/users/steam user/appdata

etc... as most will be leveraging proton via steam. And I reckon the other 10% are making use of proton via lutris or heroic... Or if they're feeling particularly oldschool, just a wine installation.

IMO it doesn't make sense for Devs to build games directly for Linux, as the long term compatibility is better via proton than it seems to be for native Linux releases. I have a catalogue of games that offer both installers, and I'd say around half of the Linux versions are fucked. (Tesla Vs Lovecraft is a prime example for me, as it even borked my soundcard for a while when it crashed, which was a real pain to sort, but the windows emulated version doesn't have this issue.)

And I say this as a Linux enthusiast/Microsoft doomsayer. Using a compatibility layer unifies the way distros interact with games... It enables the wide diversity in Linux without sacrificing compatibility when choosing a distro.

Edit: I just pulled these numbers out my arse to make my point. I have no data on how many Linux users actually use steam.

Following on from my previous post regarding the registration email received by 'your Party' subscribed emails, it seems as though the membership sign up site was created by Zarah Sultana independently of the rest of the party. This has been corroborated by a statement released by Zarah on both the YourParty-membership site and X. Stating that the reason for doing so was being pushed out of decision making and an apparent "boys club" methodology to the current decision making.

All of this controversy is very fresh, so it's difficult to get a clear picture, but it seems like today's membership portal was setup as a means to wrestle leverage in ongoing debates between supposed custodians of the founding process. I'm retaining my membership there out of morbid curiosity on what happens to the money etc, but I can't advise others to do the same in good conscience. All in all a dark day for a party that's yet to lay down its founding documents let alone name. Apologies to any who have been misled by my previous post.

Following on from the recent controversy, I've created a follow up post regarding the fallout between Zarah and Jeremys respective sides of Your Party. All in all a very disappointing start to what was intended to be a joyous occasion;

https://feddit.uk/post/36527176.

I'm not going to remove any of the below, as I'm not a fan of whitewashing events, nor am I seeking a refund on the money paid into the membership, as quite frankly I'm curious as to what happens next. We may not get a truly democratic party out of this, but at least I've got a front row seat for the fireworks. Sigh

~~Membership has opened for Your Party, with two tiers available; regular and concessionary.~~

~~There isn't much information around the difference between standard and concessionary membership other than the difference in price, and whether all tiers will be eligible for votes or not, so I'm enlisting the aid of my partner who will follow the path of concessionary, whilst I do the same with standard.~~

~~I feel it's right to mention that some people have raised concerns around the legitimacy of the statements that this is a truly democratic 1 person 1 vote as alluded to and not another autocratic party in nature. So I will look to provide an overview of the process from now until the end of the current roadmap highlighted in my previous post.~~

~~As for the membership fees themselves. The regular tier is set at £5 per month, or £55 per year. Whereas the concessionary is exactly half, set to £2.50 per month, or £25 per year. There seems to be no restrictions on who can sign up as concessionary or standard.~~.

Membership link removed due to subsequent updates (full update here).

I should point out that I'm not a journalist, or political expert in any sense. I'm just your run of the mill middle aged British socialist with arguably too much time on his hands. Prior to paying the initial membership fee, I wasn't affiliated with the party in any regard, nor is any of this paid advertising.

Finally, if you see this flamingo's, I'm sorry about the egregious spacing after the first line; it's their API, not me! :p .

He was a stray kitten that I adopted, and was a very feisty kitten; always fighting with my fully grown cat, and even picking on the dog, he is scared of nothing, and an amazing escape artist to boot (I just count myself lucky he liked us enough to keep coming back).

He's currently the (less than) proud owner of a cone of shame, and locked away in my bedroom. Living up to his namesake he still loves a good ol' scrap with the local cats and foxes.

One such event didn't pay off for him however, as we ended up down the vets because he got an abscess on his cheek. Turns out part of a claw was still embedded in him, which would have likely caused reinfections/worsening conditions had it not been treated.

It's been around a week of recovery now, and he's due to be free again this Saturday; so I apologise to the local cat and fox populations in advance.
