I have knockd listening on one very high port number, and only after accessing that reverse proxy whitelists the source ip. Sure some scanners might do a full port scan and try http only after that, but FQDN is required too. Plus I have geo ip list blocking all but my country. Oh and Crowdsec. So far so good..

All new things always have an intelligence aspect to it:

• Find my network: Find any device globally by its ”anonymized” identifier. Make a device you hack remotely send these BLE pings and voilà, some Apple or Google device is surely nearby to hear it and tell you where it is.
• Voice assistants: Hear what people talk about privately by injecting new wake-up words like ”Trump”. Cannot be used en masse yet perhaps because it’s usually only the device detecting the trigger word, and sending ”uncertain interpretations” too often would get noticed by someone.
• LLM chats: Well the same as Google searches etc. historically but now way more nuanced and with more context of what the target in intending/thinking. Building a psychological profile of them through features like ”memory”. And as LLM is such an undeterministic black box, you can easily get away with injecting all sorts of ideas through its responces.

I would imagine that having a full control of the underlaying system would allow a wrapper to be developed for the Play Services, so it would not to be able to spy on you so well. Just feeding some partially spoofed data to it, or even whitelist it to work only with the apps that require it.

Here’s a tough one: Why does Home turn on both of my LG TVs random times of day, both at the same time, even in the middle of the night. LG support pointed towards Apple about this, and indeed it stopped right after I deleted both TVs from my Home app. I have a ton of iOS/iPadOS/macOS/watchOS/tvOS devices so impossible to tell which of them might it have been, if any, but they all are running ~latest public versions, and macOS is ruled out by not being on on couple of occasions. Checked that there are no Automations or Shortcuts etc. anywhere.

This is almost as infuriating as when Apple Watch on my wrist used to (not lately anymore) wake me up in the middle of the night saying it has updates it can install, not respecting my Sleep mode absolutely-no-notifications setting. And there not being a ”Install update when put in charger” option instead of the ”Install this night” (but yeah this is dumb UX not bug)
