Yes, "I'm weak. And what's wrong with that?" Weak - AJR

I knowingly pick a new side project / fascination to focus on. I'm always forcing myself not to pickup side projects so I can actually finish something, but when struggling to motivate myself at all to get unstuck, I engage in the guilty pleasure of a new sideproject for a day or so to get going.

Agreed.

In addition, be sure to take a wide sample of ADHD symptoms from what you research.

It is such a broad condition that manifests quite differently in many people.

It might help narrow it down a little by looking at AuDHD specifically. The Autism + ADHD mix.

You'll know you are ADHD (in addition to autism) if you consult a doctor and get diagnosed (or not).

If you're seeing that one condition dictates you must have the other, I'd assume you're dealing with cognitive bias. There are plenty of people in the world who have one without the other and clearly no indication of the other.

No sense in being "worried about ADHD" just for the sake of it. If you have ADHD symptoms that are hindering you in life, get professional help. If you are not hindered by ADHD symptoms, stop worrying about it? I understand that might be hard if you are obsessing over it, just saying there is no point to it if you don't actually have the symptoms.

Recently, a major ISP in the Netherlands was determined to be streaming metadata from within their customer's networks to Lifemote, a Turkish AI company.

Here's a report in Dutch: https://tweakers.net/nieuws/245620/odido-router-stuurde-analyticsdata-naar-turks-ai-bedrijf.html

This is just the latest one to get caught doing it, but determine how comfortable you are having your internal network exposed to a 3rd party.

I've used personal/non-ISP modems and routers for 25 years because I'm not comfortable with it it. At all... But hey, you do you.

The taste of tomatoes/ketchup is great.

The texture of tomatoes is horryfing and makes me shiver and gag.

They are not the same.

The next release is Windows Only. However, it includes consoles and Steam Deck verified...

Did I read that correctly? What are they skipping, the Commodore 64?

Aren't they obligated to see to his medical needs so long as he is being detained?

As in, maybe he's smiling because (ironically) the medical care he was being denied by insurance companies while not incarcerated now has to be provided for by the state?

As others have commented, the article is a little misleading. Especially to those not familiar with NixOS:

  • "The desktop stack is updated to GNOME 49."
  • "Under the hood, the release updates the Linux kernel to 6.17 (with 6.12 LTS also available)."

These changes have been made available through packages in the nixpkgs repo, branched to the 25.11 release.

However, NixOS doesn't "stack" GNOME into it. Nor does it carry specific Linux kernels "under the hood".

You can pin any version of any release of any listed package (including kernels) from the nixpkgs repo to your configuration. More specifically even with Flakes, but that's not even required, if that isn't your thing.

So for example, I am running a specific host with NixOS 25.11, and Linux kernel 6.17.58 (LTS). (There is a specific use case for me to do so on that particular host.) This runs out of the box due to how I've configured NixOS, which is precisely the point of Nix, you configure it how you want it.

I completely agree that there would be (much less) conflict and controversy if everyone was more clear in conveying what they mean to say, and more open to facts regardless of "feelings" about facts.

However, keep in mind most neurological people typically filter out a lot of what they perceive and even think. As such neurodiverse people are (far) more prone to overstimulation. Not just in physical sensory stimulation, but also mental capacity. (We think too much.)

If any demographic is, as neurotypicals are, less likely or capable of picking up on every granular bit of detail, isn't it merely logical they would as a result be more closed of to rational arguments? Wouldn't it also be entirely logical that such rationale and factual discourse is quite literally in their "blind spot"?

Then, as one such individual loses control of any situation, for instance by having an (objectively) superior rational thinker accross from them in conversation, they will resort to any means to regain "control" of said conversation. Usually resulting in emotional displays of frustration and anger.

I have struggled with "emotional" thinkers my entire life. It isn't easy by any means. However, having come to accept that neurotypical people are incapable of a rational mindset like I have, has led me to at least accept the situation. I am no longer frustrated when they reject rational arguments, I even expect them to. As such I also "divest" from any attempt at "educating" them. It will cost me energy to do so, and only lead to conflict with the person not willing to accept rational arguments.

It may seem bleak, however it is a practical coping mechanism to not burn out by every conversation you may have on a daily basis.

I then reserve such energy for situations where people might be truly interested. And as an added benefit, I am heard more often when I do choose to speak up, since I am no longer labeled as the "know-it-all".

Just my take on it. Hope it helps🤷‍♂️
