Another one?

That is not true. Girocard used to partner with maestro (part of mastercard). The maestro part of the card was only used if the girocard was not supported where you wanted to pay. That partnership was terminated. New girocards are simple girocards. Which also means they cannot be used outside of Germany anymore. Hell, there are even terminals in Germany that don’t support girocard anymore

Not all banks have this. And I think this is only possible on Android? From what I know Apple does not allow to replace Apple Pay.

Everyone that I know pays with their phone. So yeah, Apple Pay and Google Pay are big in some parts of Europe at least.

They send a letter once per year with a summary and an estimation of how much your pension will be if you keep contributing the same amount. Not sure how that takes inflation into account, €2k in 2025 will not have the same value in 2055, but yeah …

Meta devised an ingenious system (“localhost tracking”) that bypassed Android’s sandbox protections to identify you while browsing on your mobile phone — even if you used a VPN, the browser’s incognito mode, and refused or deleted cookies in every session.

This is the process through which Meta (Facebook/Instagram) managed to link what you do in your browser (for example, visiting a news site or an online store) with your real identity (your Facebook or Instagram account), even if you never logged into your account through the browser or anything like that.

Meta accomplishes this through two invisible channels that exchange information:

(i) The Facebook or Instagram app running in the background on your phone, even when you’re not using it.

(ii) Meta’s tracking scripts (the now-pulled illegal brainchild uncovered last week), which operate inside your mobile web browser.

In less than three months' time, almost no civil servant, police officer or judge in Schleswig-Holstein will be using any of Microsoft's ubiquitous programs at work.
